"The removal was connected to President Donald Trump’s Executive Order 14253 — 'Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History' — which calls for eliminating 'divisive narratives' from national sites [revisionism]. Many museums and historic locations have responded by removing exhibits that discuss slavery and the challenges overcome by minorities and marginalized groups.

"Appointed to the federal bench by President George W. Bush, Rufe criticized the Trump administration as asserting that 'truth is no longer self-evident, but rather the property of the elected chief magistrate and his appointees and delegees, at his whim to be scraped clean, hidden, or overwritten. And why? Solely because, as Defendants state, it has the power."

A GOP-appointed federal judge in Pennsylvania has ordered the Trump administration to restore displays about slavery to a George Washington site in Philadelphia.

"New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said federal officials have made available the first $30 million of $205 million in federal funding needed to resume the Gateway Tunnel construction project. Gov. Sherrill made the announcement close to 5:30 p.m., on her X account. The Trump administration has finally sent the first $30 million of the $200 million owed to the Gateway Tunnel,” she wrote. 'This is just the first step. I’m not going to stop fighting until we get every dollar we’re owed and this project is complete.'”

"Attorneys for New Jersey and New York returned to U.S. District Court this afternoon after the states requested a status conference on the restoration of the funding, said Michael Symons, a spokesperson with the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office. U.S DOT officials told the court it has initiated some payments, but they are still processing and have not yet been received by the Gateway Development Commission, state officials said on background"

“'Because of our efforts, the Department of Transportation is finally delivering the Gateway project funds it has been unlawfully freezing for months,' said acting state Attorney General Jennifer Davenport."

The President must turn on the funds with the same zeal he turned on the water in early 2025. Project evidence strongly suggests these funds will be applied far more efficiently toward the public trust and the Northeast's regional infrastructure development than the cost and biodiversity net gain of arbitrarily releasing all that H2O to the wrong valley in CA. This effort is targeted, appropriated with congressional approval, is urgently needed and is presently underway.

While Gov. Sherrill celebrated a court decision that restored $205 million in federal funds for the Gateway rail tunnel project, she said more battles with the Trump administration loomed in court.

"An analysis finds that flagship state universities, as well as less selective colleges, had major increases in Black and Hispanic students following a ban on race-conscious admissions.... Overall, freshman enrollment of underrepresented minority groups increased by 8 percent at public flagship universities. The analysis, by a nonprofit organization, Class Action, concludes that those schools were among institutions that benefited as a result of higher rejection rates for Black and Hispanic students at the nation’s 50 most selective schools."

Cooler heads seem to be prevailing for the time being...
"New York Gov. Kathy Hochul released the following statement regarding Friday's ruling:
'Today, a judge affirmed what we've said from the start: our case against the Trump Administration is likely to succeed, and Donald Trump's attempt to rip away funding and derail the Gateway Tunnel project is likely to be found unlawful.
'This ruling is a victory for the thousands of union workers who will build Gateway and the hundreds of thousands of riders who rely on it every day. We will work to protect this decision and move as soon as possible to get work back on track.
'We will continue coordinating with our partners at the Gateway Development Commission and New Jersey to ensure the Administration follows the law and releases the funding New Yorkers are owed." "New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said in a statement, 'I am thrilled that the court has granted temporary relief, lifting the freeze of billions of dollars of federal funding for Gateway. President Trump's arbitrary and politically motivated decision to freeze this funding is plainly illegal, and we will continue to pursue full relief so the nation's most urgent transportation project can keep moving forward — and workers can keep putting food on the table." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gateway-tunnel-project-can-resume-after-judge-blocks-trumps-funding-freeze-for-now/ar-AA1VPvDC?ocid=BingNewsSerpr&fbclid=IwY2xjawPz70RleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEe9uQqHDHJoK_zZqPtB2XO_CutxBzuUjeZagBY8Klz2GbD7O2F-EyvqJMzWwY_aem_ppz3ATqDPrv7Bdy4JZxY_A
