Nicolas-Jay is the story of a three-decade friendship between famed Burgundian winemaker Jean-Nicolas Méo and visionary music entrepreneur Jay Boberg, and their shared love of Oregon Pinot Noir. It is also the story of their desire to build something lasting together, while creating a distinctive expression of great Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. At Nicolas-Jay, this is achieved by applying viticultural and winemaking experience gained from working with the grands crus of Burgundy to the finest grapes from Oregon. This includes fruit from the older vines of Nicolas-Jay’s own organically farmed Bishop Creek Vineyard on the hillsides of the Yamhill-Carlton appellation, as well as grapes from other top Willamette Valley vineyards, including Nysa, Momtazi and Zenith. From this fruit, Jean-Nicolas, Jay and talented Associate Winemaker Tracy Kendall make alluring and expressive wines that convey the special character of Oregon Pinot Noir.

Watching longtime friends come together to create an unforgettable meal while the hum of harvest fills the air was nothing short of magic.

Some news worth celebrating: our 2024 Chardonnays scored beautifully with Audrey Frick at Jeb Dunnuck

We’re proud of these w**es and the place they belong to: the cool nights and long days of summer in Oregon that make this kind of Chardonnay possible. If you haven’t tried the 2023s that set the stage for this, now’s the time. We’re thrilled that our Chef Dinner Series was featured in the latest issue of Oregon W**e Press Magazine!

What started as an idea to bring exceptional culinary talent to our Estate has blossomed into our favorite interpretation of food and w**e: local ingredients, creative expression, and a celebration of why we wanted to make w**e in the first place — community.

We’ve sold out every dinner this year, and this Thursday, tickets open to the public for our final dinner on December 4th with Chef Bob Blumer. You won’t want to miss it!

Celebrate National Vinyl Record Day!

Our 2025 Pink Vinyl Rosé is made from 100% Estate-Grown Pinot Noir and inspired by Jay’s background as the cofounder of I.R.S. Records — he helped shape an entire generation of sound. When it came to designing our Pink Vinyl label, Jay couldn’t think of a better person than Carlos Grasso, his good friend who crafted the original I.R.S. Record logo.

We learn, with great sadness, the passing of Matthew Jukes at age 58.

Matthew was a distinguished sommelier, critic, and journalist, whose enthusiasm and passion was communicative: He made you believe in what you were doing.

As a writer, his sensitivity and finesse was met with great talent: there was a catch in each of his tasting notes, which was exactly to the point. Old World critic at its best.

The w**e industry and most importantly, the community of fine w**es producers, owe him a lot.

Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and all those who were greatly impacted by his talent.
