Bells Up Winery

Bells Up Winery This, while watching Sara’s professional mentor battle pancreatic cancer at age 40. The answer, for us, was that life is too short to spend unhappy.

Micro-boutique, un-domaine, and always open by appointment... Call 503.537.1328 to experience your Winemaker-hosted tasting, exclusively for one group at a time. The Bells Up Story: “If you’re this successful in a career that makes you sick, stressed and miserable… how much more successful would you be doing something you love?”

That’s the question Sara asked Dave eight years ago, following his m

ental and physical breakdown from more than a decade as a successful corporate tax attorney. So we turned the basement hobby that brought Dave joy — winemaking — into Bells Up Winery. Dave left the legal field, dedicating himself full-time to learning the business of making wine as a professional at Henke Winery while we lived in Cincinnati, Ohio. After Dave won two different amateur national winemaking competitions with two different wines, we decided to relocate to Newberg, Oregon. In 2013, we established Bells Up Winery and our winemaking dreams took root. Today — micro-boutique, un-domaine and always open by appointment — Bells Up composes handcrafted, classically-styled Oregon Pinot Noir with grapes sourced primarily from micro-growers located on the northern side of the Willamette Valley. "Bells Up" is a reference to a dramatic moment in classical music where the composer instructs French horn players to lift the bells of their instruments upward and project their sound with maximum intensity. Specter, a French horn player who performed in bands and symphonic groups throughout high school and college, feels the winery is his “Bells Up” moment.

What makes the Bells Up estate vineyard so special? Besides being a labor of love for Winemaker Dave and Money Honey Sara, it all comes down to the clones! ➡️ 🍇

We have seven Pinot Noir clones planted — Pommard, 115, 777, 667, 113, 943, and Wadenswïl — each have their own unique characteristics and structure that can dramatically change the composition of a wine.

This variety allows Dave to have the depth, character, and body needed to orchestrate the unique blends that are our signature wines. It’s an exciting process that few get the chance to experience. But this year we wanted to change that by inviting you to explore the foundations of Bells Up’s Pinot blending process.

🍷 TOMORROW (Saturday, Sept 5, from 1 - 4 pm) is your chance to explore the vineyard, taste barrel samples, and explore a five-vintage Titan Pinot Noir vertical during this one-of-a-kind event. Tickets are just $65 per person for Fanfare Club members and $85 per person for non-members. Get more details at the 🔗 in our bio, and give us a call at 503.537.1328!

"Tasting at Bells Up is by appointment. This fact alone isn’t rare, however they take personalization one step further. Sara speaks to every single person before an appointment can be booked to ensure a truly tailor-made experience." – AdVINEtures
