Good morning Bee lovers! It is time to get your gardens ( Fruit, vegetables, flowers and other plants) in the ground or seed planted....as you get ready please keep the bees in mind when you have the need to use pesticides or other control measures. Bees are very sensitive to changes in environment.
They need everything we need :
Water
Food
Poison free environment
Don't kill them just because you are afraid or allergic, discover alternatives. Move them, move you, live together...we each have a job to do in this world and the Bee's are a vital part in our survival. IF you cannot share the space with Bee's due to a life threat to you, do not plant within 5 feet of your doors, walkways, windows, or seating areas/active yard areas. Bees will find food (plants for food)
Plant as you wish, and water responsibly, conservatively, and do not waist. Not a green thumb but want to contribute to wholesome bee life? Get your hands on a few packets of wild flower seeds and just spread them ourt in a watered area (in the yard may not be good due to mowing).
Look around your area and see where green plants are growing during summer (when the rain we have had is gone) and just throw seed in that area. Water is there from some where, could be a down spout, cooler drain, AC condensate, almost anything during summer.
In the event of a swarm finding your property, generally they will stay in a clump and keep actively searching for food and a home at the same time. This can be a very trying time for you and the bee swarm. If they find a suitable place to start a homestead (tree limb, corner of eave, patio, porch, etc) they will start to build comb and making home.
Please if you can manage their invasion of your safety DO NOT KILL them. Call a bee keeper to come remove them. Pest control companies generally do not remove live bees, they produce dead bees. Their job is to exterminate your pest issue and take your money for applying poisons. Granted this may bee required because of immediate danger to people, but in many instances it is not necessary, more convenience and comfort to us.
Pest control companies have restrictions and guidelines that they are required to follow. Most of the time (dependent on the poisons they are licensed to use) they will only apply poisons to your living spaces ( house or living space building). Any other area of your property, including detached garages, sheds, outbuildings and yard area they will not treat. So that leaves you with bees outside your house in your yard, sheds, and other areas.
Be responsible and compassionate with bees. If you want them removed, call someone that will do it BEFORE you decide to get a can of spray and take on the measure yourself.
Happy planting and thank you for reading this little article to live with bees in our world. 🐝🐝🐝😁
