Start where you are and use what you have.

It doesn't have to be complicated, you don't have to invest a lot of money. Look around you and use your resources. Go to your chamber of commerce, look online, ask your network. You will be surprised to find that many resources are available free of charge. It is up to you to put in the work.

Don't let the idea of not being where you think you should be, stop you from getting where you need to be.

We seem to believe this thought that because I don't have, or because I'm not at a certain point in my life or business that I can't do something.

That's bull sh*t.

Start with where you are and what you do have to help you propel you forward.

So you decide to start that business Great, now what is your Plan? You've got to have a plan of action before you just jump out there.

Creating a business plan helps you to know where you are going, and how to get there. It doesn't have to be overwhelming start with just a page or two.

Here is what your business plan should have:

Executive Summary- is a summary of what your business is as a whole.

Markert Analysis- This is your market research if there is any competition in your industry and allows you to become familiar with your industry.

Company Description- an overview of why your company will be successful, mission statement, vision statement location, organizational structure, management team, and legal structure.

Marketing and Sales Strategies- Know who your customers are and where they hang out, how you are going to get them to notice you, how you are going to interact with them, and how you are going to get your product/service to them.

Service and Product line- what exactly is the product or service that you are offering/selling? how are you different from your competition and tell what the benefits are of using your product or service. How does your product or service cost?

Funding requirements- how much funding do you need to get started and continue to run your business. Be honest with yourself here

Financials- your expenses and revenue are forecasted based on the historical data if you have it. What your business is, how you serve your clients, are you offering a product or service, what are your goals, mission, and vision statements, market research, how do you plan to make money, how will you use that money to help you grow.

Answer the simple questions and give as much detail as possible.

One of the questions I hear often is Kay where do I start? I want to start my own business but, I don't know where to begin. And my answer is always the same. Start with what you enjoy doing and use your gift. There is no point in starting your own business if you don't enjoy it.

Sit down this weekend and take stock of what you enjoy doing or would like to do and what your gift is. Think of a product or service that you can create using your gift and or your likes. Then do some market research ask those around you what they think (look be careful with this one not everyone wants to hear about your dream and help you succeed. Go to those you trust the most or join and ask in a Facebook group for feedback) of the product or service and if they would use it.

There is nothing wrong with testing the waters with ideas. In fact, I encourage it. Before you jump out there with a full-fledged business around an idea make sure that it's something that you could see yourself doing and fills a need. Some ideas are going to work out and some not so much, but the key is that you have to try, and you have to do your research.

You want to start a business and, you are not sure what to do or, you have an idea and, you are not sure how to get started.

The first thing that you need to do is decide on your business structure. This is something that you can easily do on your own. Go to your state's website or visit sba.gov and research which structure best fits you and your business. Each will have plenty of resources that you can use to help you get started. Please don't go out here and spend $$$ when you can do this yourself. It just takes a little time and patience.

The next thing that you need to do is to decide on a service or product and do some market research. How is your product or service going to serve your target market and who is your target market. This alone will take some time so please don't rush through this process.

There are many more steps in the process of starting a business so take your time. This is not an excuse however to procrastinate. This is me telling you to take your time and do things correctly so they don't bite you in the butt.

As time goes on I will share steps in the process with you and give you tips along the way. I don't want to you bit off more than you can chew and taking things in steps is always easier.

Can't wait until the next post. Shoot me a DM and, let's schedule a strategy session.

Batch out your task

Don't try to get all of your work done in one sitting. Allow your mind, body, and eyes to take breaks throughout the day.
At the start of your day take a few minutes to plan out your day and to batch out your tasks.

Here is an example:
- Plan day/review any unfinished task from the day before 30 mins
- Check emails and voicemails 1 hour
- Create and schedule social media post 1 hour
- Break 10 mins (get up walk away)
- Project 1 2 hours
- Lunch 1 hour
- Return calls and check emails 30-45 mins
- 10 min break
- Project 2 1 hour
- 5 min break
- End of day wrap-up.

If you notice, I don't have any times in my day. Mainly because my day doesn't always start at the same time. While I always try to start my workday at 9 am it doesn't always work out that way. Sometimes the school bus is late other days it's on time, sometimes I don't want to start until 9:30. The point is that when I do I always batch out my day. That way I know what I'm working on and when I have a break (giving my mind time to wander).

Do you batch your day? If so share below. Do you need help creating a plan for your day?

Welp folks...I'm down but not out. I've been sick and in bed since Friday.
Today I am starting to feel a little bit like myself and actually able to focus on work or really anything. My body was insisting that I rest and all I could do was listen. I really had no choice you know that you need rest when your knees are tried...lol. I hope that you all have a wonderful day.
I'm going to take a nap,
xoxo
