Respected Industry Veteran and Trusted Franchise Advisor Retires After Decades of Leadership

National Franchise Sales (NFS) announces the retirement of company principal and longtime franchise leader Alan Gallup.

Alan’s departure marks the end of an extraordinary chapter—closing out a career that spans more than five decades of franchise operations, brand development, and advisory work.

Alan joined NFS in 1994 and was named principal in 2003. Over the years, he became a key force behind the firm's Asset Recovery division, successfully managing complex bankruptcy, foreclosure, and receivership proceedings and overseeing the auction of hundreds of franchise units across the US.

Gallup also played a central role in NFS’s long-running work with the Denny's brand, leading the NFS resale team that handled hundreds of units nationwide. With deep roots in the brand and strong relationships built over years, he became a trusted resource not just for franchisees, but for Denny’s corporate leadership as well.

“Alan is the kind of person you want in your corner when things get complicated,” said Jerry Thissen, founder of National Franchise Sales. “His knowledge runs deep, but more than that, he always brought a steady hand and calm presence to every situation. Whether it was a high-stakes auction or a sensitive client handoff, Alan was the one you wanted in the room.”

Gallup’s franchise career began in 1971, quickly rising from operator to executive. He was Vice President and principal of Crocker’s Restaurants, Inc., and later held executive roles at Galardi Group Inc.—parent company of Wienerschnitzel, Original Hamburger Stand, and others—overseeing company and franchise operations, R&D, and franchise sales.

In true form, Alan has been generous with his knowledge and time, mentoring colleagues and preparing the next generation of leaders to carry on his work.
