The person in this position plans and coordinates programs for the chamber that support our chamber members and their businesses. Newport Baseball and Softball Association is hiring coaches for the upcoming season!

Do you love the game and want to pass that passion on to a new generation of student athletes? This is a great opportunity to make a real difference in a young person’s life and to provide a team and character building activity.

TWO POSITIONS ARE CURRENTLY OPEN:
BASEBALL COACH – 7th/8th Grades
SOFTBALL COACH – 7th/8th Grades

Length of assignment: Five (5) months
Wage: $2500 stipend, paid out in $500 monthly installments

Job Description
• Make sure athletes understand that being at practice on time is mandatory.
• Make sure that athletes understand the importance of team first at every game.
• Provide daily communication with athletes/parents for accountability and commitment.
• Must have baseball and/or softball knowledge, ability to teach.
• Maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all students, regardless of ability.

The function of a coach is to ensure a positive baseball/softball experience for all players regardless of ability. Coaches serve as an advisor, mentor, lifeline, or simply as a person to lend an ear and listen. The role that a coach can have on a player’s life is significant in youth development. The sports field offers a place to develop both as an athlete and individual, and lessons learned on that field will be carried throughout life.
