The Birdhouse Hack: Clean It Before March 7 🏠🐦

If you have a birdhouse in your yard, it's full of last year's nest right now.

And no bird will use it until you clean it out.

THE PROBLEM:
Last year's nest is packed with mites, lice, bacteria, and parasites. A new family moving in would expose their chicks to all of it. So they won't move in.

THE FIX:
→ Remove the old nest completely (wear gloves)
→ Scrub inside with a 1:9 bleach-to-water solution
→ Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely
→ Check the drainage holes — clear any blockage
→ Reattach securely before March 7

WHY MARCH 7?
Bluebirds, chickadees, and wrens start scouting nest sites in the first week of March. If your box isn't clean by the time they check, they move on. They don't come back.

BONUS: FACE IT RIGHT
→ Entrance hole should face EAST or SOUTHEAST
→ Away from prevailing wind
→ 5-8 feet off the ground
→ No direct afternoon sun (cooks the eggs)

One cleaning. 10 minutes. A family all summer.
