COACHING SITUATIONS AND CHALLENGES.
There may be many challenges you may not be ready for, or haven't been properly trained. Players can be a point of distraction through their lack of dedication, determination or attitude. They may turn toward teammates who aren't great role models either in the classroom or especially away from school, with respect to what the coach may want to accomplish.
You may have an Athletic Director who is more of a paper pusher and has little experience with what traits a great coach needs to be successful, such as recruiting the best players, handling problems within the team through the coach. Establishing a handbook of guidelines for their coaches, and making tough decisions with respect to player conduct and retention.
Keep in mind, it's easier to build facilities than it is to build a program of respect. That respect is earned through the words and actions of your coaches, and players. They carry your message and ultimately are the light others see and hear for your program through their words and actions. Players need to know their words, choices and decisions paint a picture of their choice of being ambassadors or detractors. As the coach, you have the power and influence to make sure they carry a positive light for others to see and hear consistently.
I wish you and your team the best this season!!
