Why Yes I Do Work At Home
I love the fact that I am looking forward to Labor Day this weekend. And I wanted to share a little bit about my life. I have a great job this year as a recruiter/headhunter that yes I have a home office and work for a secure and confidential company. I am based on my results instead of hours which I talk to a lot of people during the day. Sometimes they call me back when I am not in front of a computer and I still love talking to them as I have been where they are. I am able to stop and visit with my neighbor who stops by. She is taking care of two elderly parents. We are both a comfort as we are the only two adults other than my fiancee sometimes I see during my time working. Well there is the mailman who has come to accept my job and no longer makes funny comments about the headset on my head for my phone. Planatronic brand is the best as you can wear and tear a headset fast with a lot of calls and the wiring if you wear it a lot. I don't work in jammies, I actually get dressed and put on makeup and work clothes, image can be portrayed by your voice in how you look and feel. I do work 40 hours a week, but they are my hours and some of it I leave as open hours so clients can call me back if they have to kids or something else. My laptop I use a lot more than the main computer. I swear someday it will firmly attach itself to my lap and how would I hide that under a wedding dress? I have a fantastic fiancee who is just as supportive with all that I do. He even makes me a fresh pot of coffee every morning. No more instant crystals in this house. He gasped the first time he saw that giant jar of instant crystals. Sometimes I can even take the laptop out on the front porch and call clients resumes if the weather permits. At those times it is me and that pesky coworker the woodpecker, drilling away at the tree. My clients love the fact that I am a real recruiter and sometimes they call me back and thank them for the job interview I lined up for them. I can stop and start anytime I want as long as results prove themselves. (Which They DO) My power lunches consist of whatever is in the fridge and I sometimes I share lunch of sliced turkey with a big fat orange or black or white cat. Yes we have diversified workers here lol. I am so glad and thankful for a new lease on life. With all the gratitude for Labor Day, I am also grateful for the clients who I cannot find a suitable option for because sometimes I am the only voice of hope on that line for them that day and I can take five minuets and tell them about other options for work (library resources are great for free learning classes.) I am learning to balance life as well as work and can work on my creative side of Carbon Footprint Services. So next time someone tells you they work from home. Give them some admiration and thank them as there are a lot more of us then you think and we don't sit in our pajamas and eat bon bons in front of the tube pretending to work. Well that's more about me. A proud work at home employee.
