I captured this image on the Shiawassee River in Owosso, Michigan during the summer of 2020, and the quote seemed fitting. There's always time to begin some kind of adventure in life: a new hobby, a spontaneous road trip, exploring new foods, updating your resume, start a new friendship, apply for that passport, and countless other possibilities! Your only failure is not trying.

Never Too Late would make a great motivational framed wall art for your office or a prominent place at home. Please click on the image to see the entire photo.

"The Yukos looked stolidly at me, no sign of emotion on their faces." – from the book "Bruchko" by Bruce Olson

As I began chapter 9, this word appeared unexpectedly: stolidly. A new word for me ... how about you?

Can you find the mistake?

Can you find the mistake?

While reading a novel by Tom Clancy, I read a new word to me in this sentence: "They bent to their various tasks with energy since they knew they could be dismissed at the whim of the vice marshal or his mercurial wife."

If I would have thought about what the sentence is saying, I might have been able to come up with a guess of what "mercurial" means. But I took the easy road with merriam-webster.com.

Mercurial: changing moods quickly and often.

At one point during the Netflix movie "The Little Prince", the Aviator says the word "fromage" just before he took a picture of the Little Girl and himself. Time to go to merriamwebster.com:

fromage (fraw-mazh) n. Defn: cheese

The movie is based on the book "Le Petite Prince" by the author Saint-Exupery. Thus, the idea of the French word fromage for the movie's camera-clicking scene.

There are so many words to discover. While looking at a gallery of pictures of the past week online, one description caught my eye:

"A Yemeni female teacher invigilates a final secondary school exam in Sana'a, Yemen, July 30, 2016.

Merriam Webster's definition: "to watch students who are taking an exam."

What if more words were introduced that took place of a long series of words? "This morning I jogorated."

Jogorate: to jog at least fiive miles at a pace of eight minutes per mile.

"At dawn across the Islamic world, sonorous voices usher the sun over the horizon." – Nabeel Qureshi, "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus"

sonorous: having a sound that is deep, loud, and pleasant. (Merriam Webster)

Word of the Week: ubiquitous

"Partially hydrogenated oils are ubiquitous in snack foods, baked goods, cookies, crackers, spreads, and many other items in grocery stores and supermarkets." – Andrew Weil, M.D., 8 Weeks to Optimum Health, 49.

Defn: seeming to be seen everywhere

"The simpler you say it, the more eloquent it is." ~ August Wilson

"Jargon prevails in many books because writing with simplicity and clarity is hard business. Jo Jo Starbuck, the champion skater, said the hardest thing about developing a new routine is to make it look easy. Since many authors are not willing to pay the price of great effort to make it look easy, their books are heavy with entangled sentences that take for granted the reader has time to waste." – Edward Fischer, "Life in the Afternoon"
