Some stories come full circle.

In 1945 and 1947, Fernando Amorsolo painted Planting Rice and The Tinikling Dance. According to family history, one of these works was given as a gift of gratitude, tied to a story about a relative who helpedone of Amorsolo's own wives during WWII. The family has held onto both paintings ever since. Neither has ever been offered at auction, until now.

Blue Box Auction Gallery is partnering with Salcedo Auctions in Manila to close that loop. These two paintings are returning to the Philippines to find their next home, bringing Amorsolo's work back to the place that inspired it. You'll find them as lot #29 and lot #50 in Salcedo's The Well-Appointed Life sale, live September 12 at 10am PHT (September 11 at 10pm ET).
