Applied Laboratory Services, LLC, subsidiary to Stokes Environmental Associates, Ltd., provides a variety of services related to asbestos, lead and mold. We have been providing high quality industrial hygiene services to customers in industry, government and the private sector at competitive rates since its incorporation in September 1995. ALS manages all aspects of asbestos and lead-based paint projects including inspection, monitoring, and post abatement services. ALS gives you access to highly qualified professionals including Certified Industrial Hygienists, Industrial Hygiene Technicians, Engineers, Chemists, and others eager to serve your needs.

We have industrial hygiene technicians licensed in Virginia and North Carolina for asbestos inspections, lead inspections/risk assessment, asbestos and lead abatement project monitoring, asbestos management plans, mold inspections and surveys, indoor air quality investigations and a full range of industrial hygiene sampling and analysis including indoor air quality inspections and sampling.

Our laboratory is accredited and licensed for PLM bulk asbestos fiber analysis EPA-600/M4-82-020: Interim Method for the Determination of Asbestos in Bulk Insulation Samples and accredited by NVLAP Lab Code 200515-0, and PCM asbestos fibers in air analysis National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) 582 Method. ALS maintains certifications for nonviable fungal analysis of air, and surface samples though Mold and Bacteria Consulting Laboratories and participates in the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) environmental microbiology proficiency analytical test (EMPAT) program. ALS performs inter-laboratory proficiency testing (“round robin”) as well as duplicate/blind analyses and other quality assurance/quality control procedures to assure valid results. ASTM Method D7391-17E1 supplemented by ALS-110 is used for nonviable air sample analysis and ASTM D7658-17 supplemented by ALS-111 is used for nonviable bulk and tape sample analysis.

ALS provides Virginia EPA and Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act training and initial and refresher classes, servicing asbestos workers, supervisors, project monitors, project designers, management planners, building inspectors, and lead supervisors. ALS meets the requirements for licensing in the Commonwealth of Virginia for asbestos and lead disciplines along with mold, PCBs, lead awareness, OSHA and HAZWOPER refresher training programs.
