40 years of service. A legacy of leadership. And now, a statewide honor 👏👏👏

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Sylvia Haines, our Executive Vice President of Operations on being named the 2026 Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (VACCE) Executive of the Year!

For 40 years, Sylvia has dedicated her career to the Chamber and the business community we serve. Across four decades of growth, change and transformation, she has been a constant—leading with integrity, strengthening our organization and helping position the Chamber for long-term success.

Forty years of service to one organization is extraordinary. Forty years of making that organization stronger is a legacy.

Please join us in congratulating Sylvia on this incredibly well-deserved recognition!

Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy met with members of the Hampton Roads business community, including our Immediate Past Chair Bob Pizzini, to discuss transportation funding and infrastructure priorities across our region.

Transportation is more than getting people from point A to point B, it is critical to our economic competitiveness, workforce mobility and ability to attract and retain businesses and talent.

With major infrastructure investments and transportation needs continuing to shape the future of Hampton Roads, conversations like these ensure the voice of our business community is represented as decisions are made at the federal level.

We appreciate Congresswoman Kiggans and Secretary Duffy for engaging directly with regional business leaders and discussing the investments needed to keep Hampton Roads and our economy, moving forward.

There’s power in stepping away from the day-to-day to focus on what’s ahead.

Today, the Chamber team came together for an all-staff offsite retreat focused on planning, collaboration and setting our priorities for the year ahead.

We reflected on where we’ve been, challenged ourselves to think bigger about where we’re going and had meaningful conversations about how we can continue raising the bar, strengthening our impact and delivering even greater value for our members.

A special thank you to Bob Pizzini for delivering our leadership keynote and leading our team through a powerful conversation on culture. Bob challenged us to think intentionally about the culture we create every day, the role each of us plays in shaping it and how strong teams build trust, accountability and shared purpose. It was the perfect conversation as we align around where we’re headed next.

Everything we plan, build and pursue comes back to one goal: creating greater opportunities for our members and a stronger business community across Hampton Roads.

Team Chamber is ALWAYS working for you!

AI isn’t just about what’s next, it’s about what we can put to work right now.

This morning, Hampton Roads professionals came together for Automating Routine Tasks with AI, an engaging session focused on practical ways organizations can use AI to reduce repetitive work, improve efficiency and give teams more time to focus on higher-value priorities.

A huge thank you to our partners at The AI Collective Hampton Roads for leading the conversation and sharing real-world applications across communications, research, customer service, operations, documentation and everyday workflows.

And thank you to everyone who joined us at ECPI University ready to learn, connect and explore how we can work smarter with AI.

The future of work is already here and Hampton Roads businesses are ready for it.
