Dave and Carol Spacht purchased the mill in 1983 and have maintained it as a "rural" sawmill, selling local hardwoods to craftsmen and woodworkers for utility and fine woodworking use. Old and new technology work together at Spacht Sawmill, where the 1950s circular mill is combined with a modern planing mill.

Okay….we might not have any Easter eggs, but we’ve got a lot of chocolate-colored wood! Sawmill is open until noon today...

Sawmill Friends—Let’s put a “knife” in this miserable winter weather, and “cut-away” to spring. Okay, too many bad puns —we apologize.

Let’s hope this beautiful “bad board” entry will “cheery” your spirits on this snowy winter night. Our challenger cleverly made a twisted cherry board into a wooden knife accented with a Shedua handle—just beautiful!

We’re happy to share this “bad board”knife with congratulations to the challenger! But now it’s time to get to the “point.”

SPACHT SAWMILL will be CLOSED on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd due to the predicted snow/blizzard.

Sigh. Cut-it-out, Mother Nature….we’ve had enough of winter!

Spacht Sawmill is OPEN on Monday February 16th during regular hours—8:30 AM to 3PM.

Sawmill Friends—we’d like to introduce you to our “Bad Board” Challenge Champion, Gerald Alston!

Gerald proves no board is truly bad if you know how to reveal the beauty hidden within. He donates many of his gorgeous creations to support Lupus research in memory of his granddaughter who lost her life tragically to this awful disease.

Gerald is an awesome artisan and a humble guy—please check out his Facebook and Instagram reels to watch him transform “bad” into “great!”

Thank you to everyone who participated in our challenge—we love your creativity!! A few intrepid woodworkers are still working on their boards, and we’ll happily share them when completed!

Oh—you might wonder what our champion received as his reward?

A big pile of “bad” boards, of course! What else would you expect? 😊

Baby, it's COLD outside! We've managed to dig-out from this weekend's snow, but the extremely low temperatures are forcing us to limit our opening hours this week. We apologize for the inconvenience! We are well-stocked with your favorite hardwoods, and our woodstoves will be burning hot, but dress warmly!!
