The Faces of Local: Ooma Tesoro’s Marinara Sauce! 🍝

Michael Tesoro and Robin Tesoro co-founded Ooma Tesoro's with a clear mission: make a jarred marinara sauce that truly tastes like homemade. With Michael's grandmother’s (Ooma’s) recipe and a collection of old Mason jars in hand, the duo tested out how the North Adams community reacted to Ooma's sauce when they started selling it at local farmers’ markets. The community relayed what even the most revered Italian grandmas already knew: Ooma’s recipe is the best!

Now, Ooma Tesoro’s can be found in grocery stores and specialty food stores all across New England. But even with a scaled up operation out of the North Adams Armory, every batch of sauce is made exactly like Ooma did it. In doing so, Michael takes pride in adding to the growing cohort of creative reuses of old buildings in North Adams. And with a strong network of local retailers across Berkshire County selling Ooma Tesoro’s (many of whom accept BerkShares!), there’s a taste of North Adams to be had virtually anywhere !

There’s a lot that goes into making such a quality product, but perhaps no one thing is more important than the overarching approach: Never cut corners. Whether that’s by hand-picking ingredients to be of the highest quality, or by removing every single tomato seed before making the puree, Ooma Tesoro’s reminds us of the superior craftsmanship and authenticity that one can find when they .
