New class-action lawsuit calls out Diageo—Casamigos and Don Julio may not be “100% agave” after all.

Filed July 4, 2025, in California, the lawsuit accuses the spirits giant of fraud, racketeering, and misrepresentation. Lab results suggest Casamigos and Don Julio tequilas contain as little as 33–42% agave spirit, far below their “100% agave” label.

The Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) is also under fire for alleged regulatory capture. Diageo strongly denies the claims. This isn’t just legal drama—it’s a wake-up call for spirit authenticity.

President Donald Trump has long been adamant that he would institute a series of tariffs on imported goods from countries like China, Canada, and Mexico. Though most economists agree that these tariffs will have a serious, negative impact on American consumers, Trump has been undeterred. When his promised 25 percent tariffs on goods imported from Canada and Mexico first went into effect on February 1, the stock market implications were immediate, and Trump soon agreed to delay the implementation of the tariffs after negotiations with Mexico and Canada.
