A lot of small businesses are putting all of their energy into social media, and I think that is a mistake.
Facebook and Instagram matter. They help people discover you, notice you, and get a feel for your business.
But social media is not the business.
Your website is the hub.
Social media is one spoke to that hub.
You do not own your social platforms.
You do not control the algorithm.
And most importantly, social media is usually not where a serious customer makes their final decision.
That usually happens on your website.
When someone is ready to call, book, or fill out a contact form, they want to see that your business looks real, credible, current, and easy to reach.
Your social media should support your website.
Your website should support your business.
If your social pages are active but your website is outdated, confusing, slow, or not built to convert, you are probably losing leads.
I work with Long Island small businesses on websites, content, and digital presence, and this is one of the biggest gaps I see.
If anyone in here wants it, I’d be happy to give a few businesses a free, no-pressure website evaluation and tell you what’s working, what’s not, and what I’d fix first.
