The future of the trades depends on us investing in the people who will carry them forward. 👊🏻
Today we wrapped up the summer portion of our externship with Swain, a student at the American College of the Building Arts who has spent the last few months learning alongside our shop team.
At Beers Millwork, we believe it’s incredibly important to pour into young people entering the trades. Technology and AI are changing the way we work at an incredible pace, but there are some things that still require a skilled hand, a trained eye, years of experience, and the ability to look at a piece of material and know how to make it become something beautiful.
Since May, he’s gotten a firsthand look at what it takes to turn drawings, ideas, and raw materials into something real—working with his hands, learning the tools, asking questions, solving problems, and gaining an appreciation for the craftsmanship behind custom millwork.
And the best part? He’s not going anywhere. He’ll be staying on with us, continuing to learn and getting even more hands-on experience with our team.
We’re proud to be a small part of his journey and excited to see where his talent and determination take him. Keep learning. Keep building. Keep your hands dirty.
