What a time. What a turnout. What a statement.

The Black Alumni Council Fish Fry at the was nothing short of powerful—food, fellowship, and legacy all in one room.

Shoutout to Avery Research Center for not just hosting us, but for continuing to be a cornerstone of culture, history, and community in Charleston.

And we can’t talk about the vibe without recognizing CofC Alumnus James Vickers , aka DJ SCrib. He curated a whole atmosphere. Every track felt like a memory and a movement at the same time.

This is what happens when community shows up.This is what it looks like when legacy is alive and well.

Grateful. Inspired. And already looking forward to the next one.

Tonight was more than a welcome, it was a moment.

Gathering at The Washington Cafe, owned by Peter Washington. This is what it means to build, to pour back, and to create spaces where community and culture thrive together.

As President of the Black Alumni Council, I don’t take lightly the honor of serving this powerful network of leaders, thinkers, and change makers. Nights like this affirm why we do the work of connection, impact, and purpose.

Grateful for every conversation, every embrace, and every story shared tonight. And we’re just getting started…

Looking forward to continuing the fellowship during CofC Spring Alumni Weekend tomorrow at the Black Alumni Council fish fry at Avery Research Center.

Let’s keep building. Let’s keep showing up. Let’s keep leaving a legacy.

At first, the tears come easily. The ache of missing my mom, Cheryl Adkins, feels overwhelming. But as I sit with the grief, the tears begin to soften into gratitude. I realize how deeply I was loved.

Her nurturing support shaped my entire life—steady, faithful, and unconditional. Every strength I carry was cultivated by her care. Though her physical presence is gone, her love lives on in me, guiding how I love, lead, and show up in the world. I will carry her legacy forward and share what she poured into me with others.

Forever loved. Forever grateful. Forever honoring her life. 🤍

What an honor and a true blessing it was to share my heart with the men of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at this morning's prayer breakfast. My profound thanks to the brotherhood leadership for the invitation.

It's one thing to write a book, but it's an entirely different kind of joy to see its message come to life. Today, we discussed the timeless story of David and how his service aligned with Chapter 7 of Produce on Purpose, "Serve for Authentic Fulfillment."

To witness a room full of men eager to lean into this truth, to become men who serve upward, inward, outward, and forward—was nothing short of inspiring. Thank you for reminding me that the words on the page are merely a starting point. The real story begins when we decide to live them out.
