Own a piece of aviation history with a one-of-a-kind 787 memento! ✈️

Today marks the 15-year anniversary of 787 type certification. The final airplane of the flight-test fleet to retire, ZA004, helped write some of the earliest chapters of the 787 Dreamliner story. Now, material from that airplane is preserved – transforming into limited-edition PlaneTags – available worldwide, beginning today.

For in South Carolina, it’s a meaningful reminder of how far the program has come, and the role our team has played in shaping the future of commercial aviation.

Construction update 🏗️

Check out the progress on our second Final Assembly building! Cranes are lifting trusses into place – forming the building's roof.

These trusses connect the east and west towers and will also support the cranes inside the factory that help our teammates assemble 787 Dreamliners.

7-eighhhht-sevvvennnn and one incredible team! 🙌

Today, Governor Henry McMaster named Aug. 7, 2026 (8/7) as "Boeing 787 Dreamliner Day!” The day recognizes the many contributions and the 787 Dreamliner make to South Carolina’s aerospace industry.

We celebrated with popcorn and popsicles, and the “Coolest Thing Made in SC” trophy from the 787 Dreamliner’s victory in South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce's Manufacturing Madness competition.

Every 787 Dreamliner tells a story of innovation, teamwork and pride — and today was all about celebrating the people behind every airplane. ✈️

One cool thing deserves another!

A team that's used to doing cool things is helping display Boeing South Carolina's 2026 "Coolest Thing Made in South Carolina" award with style.

Six teammates from the Moonshine Shop (no, not that kind of moonshine) created a custom mobile display case for the award we received in March, through the South Carolina Manufacturers and Commerce Manufacturing Madness competition.

Moonshine shops are part of Boeing's Lean initiative, and exist across Boeing Commercial Airplanes sites for teammates to use experience, expertise and innovation to rapidly solve manufacturing challenges. Moonshine shops get their name from a Lean manufacturing philosophy where innovators would develop new methods, late at night, by the light of the moon.

A moment worth beaming about 🏗️

We placed the final beam on the initial structure of our new Vertical Fin paint facility, where we will paint 787 vertical fins once the facility is complete.

Members of our Decorative Paint and Component Paint teams signed the beam and watched it move into place, leaving their mark on the new building. We also secured an evergreen tree to the beam, a construction tradition symbolizing endurance, continued life for the building and community pride.

🎥 Watch the video to see the final beam installed.

Safety is more than a checklist — it’s how people get home. This belief guided Jalyn on her path from military service to here in South Carolina, where she’s a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist.

To help more U.S. veterans and active-duty service members like Jalyn gain the skills needed for environmental, health and safety careers, we’re working with the National Safety Council to expand the Advanced Safety Certificate Scholarship for Veterans.

Learn more about Jalyn’s journey from the Army National Guard to Boeing South Carolina, thanks in part to the Advanced Safety Certificate Scholarship for Veterans: https://www.boeing.com/features/2026/06/a-veterans-mission-to-prevent-the-next-injury
