The new Terminal 5 Pier is seeing activity! As the first pier built at Quonset in more than 70 years, Terminal 5 increases the capacity of the port and accommodates a variety of cargo ships.

The Viking Odesa, a roll-on/roll-off vessel carrying automobiles, recently delivered more than 1,100 GM and Chevrolet trucks and SUVs to the port. These vehicles are among the 200,000+ automobiles that arrive at Quonset each year, making the Port of Davisville consistently one of the Top 10 auto importers in North America.

At tonight’s meeting of the Quonset Board of Directors members unanimously approved a resolution reaffirming the pause on a potential lease with Global Soil Solutions (GSS). Additionally, the board adopted amendments to the QDC by-laws establishing enhanced voting, public information procedures and a requirement for a 2/3 vote of the board for certain high-impact projects. This would include waste conversion (thermal processing, pyrolysis, gasification, etc.) or an industrial process that is not commonly associated with standard manufacturing.

Quonset Development Corporation will also be working with the Town of North Kingstown to codify these changes permanently into QDC development regulations and town zoning. Those changes would go through a formal public process, including the town’s planning board, the QDC board, and the state regulatory process. We will continue to update the public throughout the process.

The resolution is available on our website:

Quonset company Cold-Link Logistics has broken ground on a major expansion. An additional 65,000 square feet will double the facility’s existing capacity, creating more freezer storage with space for 13,000 new pallet positions. The expansion will position Cold-Link to grow their business and better serve their customers in the food and beverage industry.

QDC is glad to be a project partner and support expansions for businesses like Cold-Link as they continue to grow and thrive here.
