Institutional bias is oblivious a problem. It hurts people of color, women, LGBTQ people, etc.
But it also hurts the organization. By limiting diversity you limit innovation, productivity, meaningful work, and a sense of purpose.
Our societal framework for how we structure, communicate, and so forth certainly affects the mental health minorities disproportionately. And even to a deeper scale. And yet it is a comprehensive societal problem.
The big picture solution is to understand the identity and character of our organizations, communities, and us as individuals. We need to make work meaningful again, allow space to find and hone individual purpose, and provide access to the process so all can make an impact.
Doing this inspires hope, belonging, and confidence.
