September reminds us that leadership is not simply about making decisions, meeting deadlines, managing people, or achieving the bottom line.

Leadership is about people.

Compassionate leadership means recognizing that the person sitting across from you may be carrying something you cannot see.

An employee may be grieving.
A parent may be overwhelmed.
Someone may be experiencing trauma.
A team member may be struggling with stress, anxiety, burnout, or challenges at home.

And sometimes, what looks like disengagement, frustration, poor performance, or an attitude problem may actually be a person who is simply trying to survive something silently.

Compassion doesn’t mean lowering expectations.
It means learning how to lead people while understanding the human experiences that influence how they show up. Appreciate your workers.
