When children show more than one behavior at a time, it can be hard to know what to respond to first 😅
This is where the idea of prioritization comes in!
✨In the heat of the moment, not all behaviors carry the same weight:
〰️Some are signals that a child is overwhelmed (like crying or refusing).

〰️Others are secondary behaviors that often happen alongside (like throwing, slamming, or refusing to clean up).

🙌By recognizing which behaviors are most important to address in the moment, caregivers can reduce stress and create the space to teach skills later🙌

🌱Key takeaway: Safety and regulation are the foundation➡️once those are in place, skill-building can follow.

Alexithymia means having a hard time identifying or talking about emotions.
It’s common in some autistic individuals and can make it seem like they don’t feel empathy but they DO. They may just express it in ways that are harder to recognize.
