Come see us for your title/registration needs.
Hello North Pole! The warming temperatures means that ATV/APV season is here in Interior Alaska, and we know you are looking forward to getting out and hitting the trails. Before you do here are some things to remember about safe and legal ATV use. To operate an ATV on the roadway in North Pole you are required to have:
1. A titled vehicle with registration and license plate.
2. Current liability insurance.
3. A valid drivers license.
4. A posted speed limit of 45mph or less.
5. Hand signals to indicate turns.
NPPD officers are going to be looking for these things if they see your ATV on the road. Uninsured ATVs on the roadway may be impounded pursuant to North Pole Municipal Code. Additionally, it is not legal to drive ATVs on sidewalks or other pedestrian pathways. While we strive to educate the public first, operating your ATV on a pedestrian pathway could result in a citation, impound or in the case of juveniles, contact with parents.
We have already responded to one ATV v. car accident this spring and impounded several ATVs and dirt bikes for driving recklessly in the roadway.
Please partner with us as we seek to help everyone have a safe and enjoyable summer! If you have any questions about ATV use please contact the station at (907)488-6902 or visit this link https://doa.alaska.gov/dmv/reg/snow.htm And don't forget your helmet!
