Griffin has an exciting announcement, and an extremely well deserved announcement. 📣
📣Griffin has qualified and been approved for Make -A-Wish! 📣🧞‍♂️
As many of you know, I buy and sell things (well did, until all of this became too much, but I still sell on occasion) the last week in October, I had a lady come by to buy a rug. She asked me why I was parting with it, and I explained I used to buy and sell things, and that I don’t really do it like I used to because I have a toddler with a tracheostomy that I take care of full time. She stopped me, “you have son with a tracheostomy?” And I said “yes I do.” She said “I work for make a wish, I’m one of people that helps with the decisions, your son qualifies for a wish.” I said how ironic that was, but said “yeah but he’s not degenerative, he’s a typical little boy with a whole lot of airway problems.” We chatted for maybe 20 minutes about his history from birth and to the point where he had just come home from the picu after coding and getting trached again. She looked up the qualifications, and said “he qualifies, I want him to get a wish, submit a referral, you could wait until he’s older, but he may have his trach out by then, and it’s my goal for every kid who qualifies for a wish, to get a wish, put the application in.” So we did. Kids have to be exactly, down to the day, 2.5 years old, or older to qualify. On Alex’s birthday, November 2nd, he officially turned 2.5 years old. Ironically, the gym I go to, Iron Legion, had a weight lifting fundraiser, for Make- A-Wish on November 2nd, raising over 80k for kids like Griffin to get a wish. All this to say, the universe has spoken, and said “Get Griffin a wish, he deserves it.” The next step is for Wish granters to come to the house and brainstorm wishes, based on what Griffin loves. I hope to take you all along on this magical adventure for our little guy! He truly deserves whatever his little heart desires!
