Great coverage of the The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Destinations Magazine: “Groups visiting The Carle can easily build a full-day itinerary when they add nearby attractions such as the Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, Emily Dickinson Museum, Yiddish Book Center, and Smith College Botanical Garden, offering a mix of art, literature, history, and nature experiences in Hampshire County."

As the American Bus Association celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, Destinations asked ABA members across the Northeast to reflect on the group experiences that have stood out in their […]

Big news from Academy of Music Theatre!

👏 Exciting announcement at the Academy of Music! 👏

The Board of Trustees of the Academy of Music Theatre is pleased to announce the new Executive Director at the Academy, Raymond Dumont. This across-the-river collaboration looks (and is sure to sound) amazing!!

This isn’t our usual show announcement. It’s an invitation to support live music in the Valley in a new way.

On Sunday, Sept. 13, The Drake and The Iron Horse are teaming up to launch Miles for Music: a new point to point run, walk, and relay from downtown Amherst to downtown Northampton, with live music along the Norwottuck Rail Trail and a finish-line celebration at Taste of Northampton.

Take on the full 8.1-mile course, walk it at your own pace, or split the distance with a teammate through a team relay with a handoff at The Quarters. However you participate, you’ll be helping support two nonprofit venues working to keep live music moving in the Valley.

Early Bird Registration opens this THURSDAY, JUNE 18 for $60. Learn more and register at the link in our Linktree. Prices increase July 1!

We’re doing this because The Drake and The Iron Horse are more than places where shows happen. They are nonprofit gathering spaces for artists, audiences, downtown businesses, and the larger creative ecosystem that makes the Valley feel like the Valley.

And this is just the beginning. Stay tuned for route highlights, musician announcements, team and fundraising opportunities, and more ways to make the most of Miles for Music. Every step helps keep live music moving in the Valley.

Run the trail. Support the scene.
