This news in from Trauma Informed Hampshire County on an upcoming Group Peer Support (GPS) offering: In lieu of our monthly meeting, we are holding a special experiential session for nonprofit workers, social service folks, community activists and anyone who relates to the struggles of making the world better for others with often very little support. Straw Dog Writers Guild is hiring for a part-time administrative position. Perhaps a great opportunity for a writer seeking a small regular employment opportunity with a nonprofit supporting writers in the WMA community?

Arianna Alexsandra Collins, our SDWG Admin for the past 4 years, who has also been serving as the Executive Director for the Hoosic River Watershed Association (HooRWA) for the past 3 years, has accepted an increase in hours so that she can attend to more programming, water quality monitoring, and advocacy throughout the Hoosic River Watershed. Due to this change, she will work fewer hours and days for the Guild. For the remainder of this month, she will attend to SDWG's needs on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Arianna will happily stay on in a limited capacity while the Steering Committee finds a new person to oversee the organization's daily administrative functions. Arianna writes, "It has been such a delight working with Straw Dog Writers Guild. I have enjoyed the creativity this job has brought me. And I have loved helping promote the good work of our members!"

Dakin, TJ O'Connor, and Berkshire Humane Society are the three shelters in Western Massachusetts that will waive adoption fees through the 21st. There are also other shelters across the state that will be waiving adoption fees.

The July 15-21 event for dogs 1 year old or older is part of an effort to ease the burden on dog and cat shelters across Massachusetts.
