🌧️ Rain Safety Update from Pfeiffer’s

April showers bring May flowers… but they’re hitting extra hard this year. With all this heavy rain, your home systems can take on more water than you realize. Prolonged soaking can cause water to pool around outdoor HVAC units, seep into basements, and reach electrical components on furnaces, water heaters, washers, and dryers.

A few things to watch for today:

- Water collecting around your outdoor A/C unit
- Dampness near your furnace or water heater
- Appliances acting differently after the storm
- Breakers tripping or unusual smells

🔧 Tips & Tricks for This Up‑and‑Down Weather

🌡️ 1. Give your system a break between big temperature swings
When it jumps from 30° to 70° and back again, people tend to flip heat → AC → heat.
That rapid switching can stress older systems.
Tip: Let the house naturally warm or cool for a bit before switching modes.

🧼 2. Change or check your furnace filter
These wild swings kick up dust, pollen, and moisture.
A clogged filter makes your system work harder and can cause short cycling.

💨 3. Keep vents open and unobstructed
Furniture, laundry baskets, or kids’ stuff blocking vents can make your system fight harder during temperature swings.

❄️ 4. Don’t ignore weird smells or sounds
When weather changes fast, condensation and expansion can cause issues.
