Although today we have officially retired our ScriptWave Secure Workflow Software and server (thank you so much to brother Chuck for your IT expertise and service!), ScriptExcellence is still in business, and we provide medical and general transcription, document proofing and editing, resume creation and other documentation services. ScriptExcellence now utilizes MyDocsOnline for secure audio and document transfers and processing. After 14 years, 7 months and 25 days, it's time for retirement of our ScriptWave Secure Workflow Software program, which was designed and managed all these years by my amazing systems analyst brother, Chuck Weindorf. His program made it possible for my small service to move from cassette tapes to digital audio files, transfer data in HIPAA-compliant fashion, and provide an easy-to-use secure workflow platform for physicians, office staff, and the transcriptionists who worked with me. I have been a self-employed medical transcriptionist since 1985, and I couldn't have remained in business the past decade without Chuck's IT handiwork! After 35 years and 3 months as an independent medical transcriptionist/medical information technologist service, I have made the decision to retire my toll-free call-in dictation system effective May 31, 2020. As I have one per-diem client remaining on the ScriptWave system developed and managed by my brother, Chuck Weindorf, I am not yet officially retiring the ScriptExcellence service yet, but alas, that time is approaching for my medical documentation work. I am grateful for the clients who entrusted their medical documentation work to me over the years, and to God for giving me the creativity and resilience to persevere in the business despite years of vast changes in the architecture of medical documentation provision. I thank the transcriptionists who have supported the service over the years, and although I have been working solo again since March of 2018, I truly appreciate their dedication and help in the busy days of the service. 💜

We are grateful to our clients for entrusting their medical documentation needs to us for so many years! One of our Oxford Hills Maine clients has been with us for 18 years, and our other current clients have been with us for 11 years, 10 years, 6 years, 5 years and 1 year. We currently transcribe for the medical disciplines of obstetrics, pediatrics, pediatric neurology, family practice, nephrology, occupational medicine, and geriatric medicine and have experience in all medical fields. We place dictation into Epic, Allscripts and Aprima electronic medical records and also provide digital reports for paper printing. When Kristen started out in medical transcription, she transcribed radiology dictation from large cassette tapes onto three-part carbon forms with an IBM Selectric typewriter - 31 years later we're all digital - and Kristen doesn't miss the little pink eraser shavings everywhere and occasional unfortunate eraser holes in the reports!

1985, when I launched the Kristen Short Medical Transcription Service. Back then I transcribed on an IBM Selectric at home or on IBM or Wang word processors that I used at my college. My first medical project was an 1,100 page medical discursus on multiple sclerosis by neuropsychiatrist William H. Parsons, M.D., transcribed from over 2,000 written pages in the most beautiful doctor's handwriting I have ever seen.
