After more than four decades of vision, leadership and devotion, our founder, Alan McKim, is retiring.

Alan’s leadership not only shaped who we are today, but the culture of safety, service and purpose that continues to guide us every day. We’re so grateful for his entrepreneurism and unwavering commitment, which has made a lasting impact on us and the hazardous waste industry.

We loved participating in the Souper Bowl drive! Plus, with Weymouth neighboring our corporate headquarters south of Boston, it’s incredibly meaningful for us to play a small part in all the work the Weymouth Food Pantry does for its community.

A friendly rivalry is heating up between our corporate office south of Boston and our Seattle office as the Super Bowl approaches this Sunday. Employees went all out showing their team spirit, and with the Seahawks vying for redemption from 2015, and the Pats hoping to earn their seventh ring, this matchup is one for the books. We’re looking forward to a good game and seeing which office earns bragging rights! Let’s go!!

Throughout the holiday season and into January, employees across the U.S. and Canada stepped away from their busy schedules to give back to the communities they serve. From donating food to local and school pantries, to firing up the grill to serve those in need, participating in a Christmas convoy to raise funds for local children and lending their wrapping skills to support families with holiday shopping, our teams showed up in meaningful ways and we’re so proud of everything they do!

In the months following the tragic UPS Airlines crash in Louisville, Kentucky, our team has been on the ground, working closely with a wide range of community partners to support remediation efforts. Recently, one of our project leads sent a letter to Mayor Craig Greenberg, praising the city’s team for their dedication, collaboration, strength and focus throughout this response. The need to eliminate the toxic firefighting foam AFFF – a highly concentrated source of PFAS (forever chemicals) – has never been greater, and we recently assisted officials in Pasco, Washington in taking a critical step to address the issue.

As part of a first-of-its-kind program in the state, the Pasco Fire Department is partnering with the Washington Department of Ecology to collect and dispose of AFFF at Pasco’s Tri-Cities Airport, where PFD Station 82 is based. Up until a year ago, it used AFFF in its operations before new regulations prohibiting it went into effect. Now, as part of remediation efforts, our crews picked up around 140 gallons of liquid AFFF foam, which will be safely incinerated at our Utah facility.
