Congratulations Team!
We are very happy to announce that the Greenfield Public Library has been certified as LEED Silver!
Sustainability goals were met with:
• Durable materials were used to extend the life of the building and minimize maintenance.
• Super insulation (beyond code requirements) helps reduce heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer.
• All-electric systems are supplemented by a rooftop 49kW photovoltaic array
• Solar harvesting uses light sensors to reduce lighting near windows to conserve energy and provide even lighting throughout the interior spaces.
To achieve LEED Silver certification, a building must meet specific criteria across several categories, including:
• Energy Efficiency: Use of energy-efficient systems and renewable energy sources.
• Water Conservation: Implementation of water-saving fixtures and systems.
• Indoor Environmental Quality: Ensuring good air quality, natural light, and thermal comfort.
• Sustainable Site Development: Location and transportation considerations to reduce reliance on cars.
