Last week, we heard from Madi Balman at Skellydog! She currently holds our Social Media Management seat in our Norwich business networking group.📱

In a world full of AI that sounds robotic, finding your voice is important, especially on social media. Madi’s presentation was about how her team approaches social media: a mix between strategic, data driven decisions and telling each brand’s story.

Madi made a point clear: businesses aren’t selling the services they provide. They’re selling the solutions to problems their customers face and the emotions that they feel when interacting with your business.

We recently heard from Nicole Sweeney of Ascend Bank for her feature presentation! She holds our Commercial Banking seat in our Norwich business networking group.

Nicole really shows her dedication to the community through her work - by volunteering time, energy and her leadership for several organizations in SECT and beyond. As a lover of experiences, it's important of her to be able to be present and make memories regardless of where she is or who she's with.

Recently, we heard from Rita Lyons of Rita Lyons Designs, who holds our residential interior design seat.

Rita works in all areas of the home and brings many years of expertise to every project. She works with her clients to repurpose as much of what they already have as possible, which helps keep costs down. She stays within budget while still bringing in quality materials. When she does purchase, she buys from companies that repurpose their own products and hold ethical standards that meet hers.

Recently, we heard from Jeremy Doyle of Jane Ryan Insurance Group, who holds our health insurance seat.

Jeremy walked us through how for-profit insurance agencies work, how commissions for brokers are structured, and how insurance companies decide whether or not to cover prescriptions. It was an eye-opening look at a system most of us never get to see.

Jane Ryan Insurance intends to stay small and local, and that's on purpose. Staying independent means they can serve their clients in the best way possible, without a big company getting in the way of the people they're helping. That level of care is exactly what you want in an insurance broker.

Even Jeremy's tagline says it all: "Health insurance sucks, make sure your broker doesn't."

Recently, we heard from Lesley, with Clear Pathway, LLC, on how she brings big-project structure to small-business chaos!

Lesley got her start in construction at a young age and spent years working across many different blue-collar trades. She was one of only nine people hired to work on the Mohegan Sun Phase 2 expansion. She also was part of the I-195 bridge and the CT Convention Center projects.

On one of those jobs, a bad filing system ended up sparking her business idea. She built a filing system for that massive project herself, and realized she had a real talent for creating order out of chaos.

Now, Lesley helps small business owners do the same thing. She builds systems for her clients that streamline and optimize how they operate, bringing that same structure and efficiency to businesses of every size.

Her question for all of us: "Are you running your business, or is your business running you?"

Recently, we heard from Geoff Lamarche + two of the Clark sisters from .co.eatery. ☕🍞 They hold our Restaurant seat in our business networking group!

Clark & Co. is one of the newest coffee shops in Norwich, Connecticut, and have made an impact on the community already!

They are wonderful people who shared their story about how they built their cafe over the last two years. Now, as they're coming up for their one-year anniversary, they are super excited to have shared their story with us.

Clark & Co. has weekly specials on food, seasonal specials on drinks, and even has small bouquets and various other gifts in their shop for you to purchase!

Come by their shop and follow them on social media to keep up to date with their specials as they are posted when they are announced.
