The DIRECTV Genie 2 server is very reliable. It's going to be very rare that you need to reboot it. Still, it is a computer, and no matter how reliable there are going to be cases when it's necessary.

It's not often that AT&T's hardware really needs to be rebooted, but with the new Genie 2, it's a little confusing trying to figure out how to do it.

"Hey, kids, let's go on a road trip!" Seemed like a good idea at the time. Pile the fam in the car and let's go see the world. Only one problem: bored kids locked in the back seat are going to misbehave. It's a tale as old as time, I'm telling you.

One option for keeping the kids occupied is live TV.

The answer for live TV in the car isn't what you think it is. Find out the whole story at The Solid Signal Blog!

There’s nothing like heading out on a road trip. They promise freedom, discovery, and a break from the routine. Maintaining a constant connection on a road trip can sometimes be a challenge, especially when you venture into areas with weak or no cell phone signal. This is where a cell phone booster for vehicles come in handy.

Here's some smart advice from our friends at weBoost.

Are you a TV antenna fan? I don't blame you. Most areas have over 50 different channels available that are not carried by any satellite or cable service. Generally all it takes is a TV antenna to receive these signals for free. But, reception is only one part of the package, at least here in the 2020s.

I'd love to say you could get one from Solid Signal.

You know that somewhere, probably in your garage, you have a pile of old cables. And if you've been in the home theater hobby long enough, that probably includes 15-20 coaxial cables of different types. Possibly more. You know it's expensive and you don't want to just toss it, so you keep it because you're sure you'll use it sooner or later. But is that really the best idea?

It sounds like a good idea but...

Not everyone has the luxury of putting up an outdoor antenna. Outdoor TV antennas are pretty amazing things. Considering that they are, in essence, metal sticks on poles, it's just amazing that they can receive incredibly weak signals that originated dozens of miles away. I admit, though, that not everyone is as much of a fan as I am.

You'll have to click through to get the real answer!

Take a look at the antenna at the top of this article. It's our Xtreme Signal HD8200XL, the biggest TV antenna made for consumer use. It's also a bit time consuming to set up. I know, I did it for this video. It's so big that some homeowners associations won't even let you put it up. And, although I like its old-school bare metal look, a lot of people say it's big and ugly.

Yes, this is a big chunk of metal. Sometimes that's just what you're looking for.

Live satellite TV on a yacht is a must-have, if you ask me. It's great to sit on the deck and relax, but when the time comes for bed, it's nice to have some TV to watch. It's also a great way to spend a rainy hour or two, because that does sometimes happen while you're out on the water. Satellite internet is great, of course, but it's not always the best choice for video.

The answer is surprisingly simple. Read on to find out more.

Are you having problems with the DIRECTV Guide? Is the receiver acting fishy? Are you getting strange error messages like "721?" Refreshing your receiver can fix a lot of problems. The best part is that you can do it by yourself, day or night, right from the web.

Here's how you do it

- First, go to DIRECTV's "My Equipment" page. (you must be logged into your directv.com account.)

Our RV customers love satellite TV, and I can see why. But one of the questions I often get asked is, should I pick DISH or DIRECTV? In the end it comes down to personal preference, but there are some things to know. I'll discuss the positives of DIRECTV in a different article, but in this one I'm focused on DISH.

Take a look at this popular option.
