“Our health is a journey, not a destination.”

In Season 4 Episode 13 of The Pursuing Private Practice Podcast, Dr. Katie Smith FourGenWellness, Registered Dietitian and certified exercise physiologist, joins for a conversation about functional nutrition, a holistic approach to health, and building a private practice that supports the season of life you’re in.

We discuss what it really means to look for the root cause of a client’s symptoms, why more testing isn’t always better, and how gut health, stress, sleep, and nutrition connect to hormone health.

Katie also shares how her decision to leave her “dream job” to create a private practice gave her space for both meaningful work and the life she wants outside of it.

I talk a lot about building a successful private practice, but success means more than how quickly you grow, how much you make, or how visible you are online. Sometimes success looks like building a business that intentionally leaves room for the parts of your life you don’t want to sacrifice.

On this week’s episode of the Pursuing Private Practice podcast, I’m joined by Dr. Katie Smith FourGenWellness, Registered Dietitian and certified exercise physiologist, for a conversation about functional nutrition, a holistic approach to health, and building a private practice that supports the season of life you’re in.

In this episode, we discuss what it really means to look for the root cause of a client’s symptoms, why more testing isn’t always better, and how gut health, stress, sleep, and nutrition connect to hormone health.

One of the great things about private practice is that our careers don’t have to stay the same forever. We can take what we’ve learned, honor what life is asking of us, and build something different, even when we didn’t expect to change direction in the first place.

On this week’s episode of the Pursuing Private Practice podcast, I’m joined by Lindsay Stenovec Lindsay Stenovec MS RDN CEDRDS, Registered Dietitian and Clinical Supervisor, for a conversation about the clinical complexities of endometriosis, how dietitians can best support their clients, and what it looks like to navigate burnout, career pivots, and build a sustainable private practice.

Sometimes excellent care isn’t about having every answer. It’s about being curious, staying within your scope, and helping clients feel less alone while they navigate something incredibly complex.
