At the January meeting of the SIBA Leadership Development Council, Corey Rohwedder presented Erik Huber a plaque for his year of service as Chairperson of the SIBA Leadership Development Council for 2023

Erik is Vice President, Commercial and Mortgage Loan Officer at Bank of Springfield in Shiloh, Illinois and has been an active part of the LDC since its formation in 2015 and was instrumental in organizing mock interviews with the students at The CAVE in Belleville.

Congratulations Erik and great job for all of your efforts with the Leadership Development Council in 2023!

The Southern Illinois Builders Association held their Fall Industry Reception and Annual Meeting in November. In conjunction with this event, the Leadership Development Council held a toy drive with all donations and proceeds to benefit Caritas Family Solutions. Donors received tickets for each donated toy or cash donation for a chance to win 1 of the 5 baskets that were available. The basket themes included: a Far Oaks Golf Basket; a Stonewolf Golf Basket; a St. Louis Blues Hockey Basket; a Wine and Cheese Basket; and a Lotto Scratch Off Christmas tree. 120 toys / books/ games, etc. were collected along with $1,200 in donations and Egyptian Workspace Partners donated $1,000 which were presented to Brianna Gilson, Administrative Manager with Caritas Family Solutions at the Southern Illinois Builders Association office. Caritas Family Solutions have over 300 children on their “Secret Santa Lists” this year.

The Leadership Development Council of the Southern Illinois Builders Association will have their annual free "Washers' Tournament" held in conjunction with the SIBA Indian Summer Get Together on September 14. The Southern Illinois Builders Association Indian Summer Get Together is scheduled for September 14, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. The Leadership Development Council will hold a free washers' tournament. To register for this event or questions, please contact the SIBA office at 618-624-9055.

The Leadership Development Council of the Southern Illinois Builders Association recently toured the new Manufacturing Building at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville. Thanks to Holland Construction Services, Inc. for allowing the LDC to tour this facility.

The SIBA Leadership Development Council met recently to: finalize the arrangements for the sponsored stands at the SIBA Metro Golf Outing; the jobsite tour this summer; the Indian Summer Get Together; the AGCI and SIBA Sporting Clays Event; and the SIBA Fall Industry Reception. The last two weeks, myself and a couple other members of the Southern Illinois Builders Association (SIBA) Leadership Development Council helped with some of our local High Schoolers with their interview skills. These kids are a part of the new CAVE program (vocational school) with District 201 and have some big apprenticeship interviews today and tomorrow.

As the new Chair of the LDC this year, we’ve been looking forward to getting this relationship with 201 and the Cave started. After helping out the last two weeks, I’m now looking forward to seeing how we can continue to expand this relationship and get even more involved.

Good luck to those kids with thier interviews today. Hopefully they knock it out of the park..(little opening day reference!).
