The other night my husband and I were watching one of those nature shows. We were completely drawn into the drama between the chimps and monkeys. The narrator knew who was fighting, who was protecting who, who was leading the group... it was like watching a movie.
After about 45 minutes I finally asked my husband, "How do they know all of this?"
Then it hit me.
Those producers have watched thousands of hours of footage. They take everything they've observed and piece together a story that keeps us glued to the screen. It made me think about life. The enemy watches too. He studies our habits, our weaknesses, our distractions, and he would love nothing more than to create a narrative that pulls us away from God's purpose. But here's the good news...
He may watch your story, but he doesn't get to write it.
God has already declared: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
So today, believe the report of the Lord—not the narrative someone else is trying to write about your life.
God is the Author. Jesus is the Finisher. And your story is still unfolding.
Keep trusting Him... no matter who's watching.
