This right here is absolutely beautiful Silver Maple cookie with burl fiddleback grain. This species is hard to get here as it’s found more on the Eastern side of the country. It’s about 3 ft around and 2.25 inch thick. Would love to make a coffee table for someone interested. The buyer can help design the legs. Couple cutting boards done. Fist one: Rock Maple end grain with Chestnut highlight. Second one: made from a lot of my scrap. But came out pretty cool. Lots of different hard woods. All spoken for/sold. Do have a lot of Rock Maple left for a lot more cutting boards. Let me know if interested.

Refinish complete. There was some elbow grease put into this one. Hand plained flat. Should have added up the hours sanding, but lets say there was a lot. All other defects corrected and sealed. Sanded to 220, applied Fiddes Hard Wax Oil (Great Stuff) finish, sanded again to 1000, applied more Fiddes finish, then finished with a ceramic coat (yes there is even ceramic coating for wood). Some imperfection were left in the piece to keep with the original "Rustic farm House" style. The color variations of the Black Walnut top is awesome as well as the Fiddleback gain pattern that appears in several sections of the top. Enjoy.

Our dinning table I built years ago needed to be refreshed, meaning it needed to be flattened, hence the hand plane, checks needed filled, erased a lot of mistakes. Then about 5.5 hours of sanding. We're about there. Next set of pix will be the finished product. Black Walnut top and will be re-finishing with Rubio Monocoat.

Been to long but been extremely busy. So, this guy....This is an early 1900's Michigan Maple Butcher block (Petoskey, Michigan). Solid Maple, end grain butcher block measuring 36 x 36 x 18in. Because of the condition, I slabbed it and will make as many cutting boards as possible. They will be around 2 to 2 1/2 in thick. Solid maple end grain (Old Growth) cutting boards. Won't be ready for some time but will let you know when they are available for purchase.
There will be one slab that will be sold as a 36 x 36 x 5 1/5in thick butcher block. It will show the original lag bolt hardware that was used over 100 hears ago that run through the entire piece and will be a conversation starter for sure. PM me about this piece if interested or know of anyone looking for a very hefty butcher block. More pictures and info to come.
