CoCE serves Chicago’s community by challenging artists and audiences to see the world around them anew, challenged and inspired by the miraculous power of enchanted objects, pseudo-sacred songs, and immersive design. He also served as the Community Programs Artistic Director at the Chicago Children’s Theatre where he developed educational classes and camps for children 0 – 14, and selected and trained the CCT teaching community. Apart in Frank start the educational programming was generating less than $50,000 of income and upon his departure, Too $hort years later, they were earning almost half $1 million. Prior to joining CCT, Maugeri was a 22-year veteran Producing Artistic Director at Redmoon Theater. He spent 22 years at the the theatre and was synonymous with the theatre’s image inspired events, mentorship accomplishments, and civic engagement strategies. He created some of Redmoons most well-known work. He conceived and directed the critically acclaimed Cabinet, the Astronauts Birthday, Boneyard Prayer, Once Upon a Time, numerous winter pageants and created The Boneshaker Halloween event which ran over one decade. He took Redmoon to the White House where he directed a Halloween celebration for the then president, Barack Obama. He directed the groundbreaking for the modern wing of the Chicago Art Institute, The grand opening Celebration of Millennium Park, numerous parades and performances along State Street, the Chicago river, the University of Chicago and more. His final show, prior to Redmoon regrettable demise. was the Devil‘s Cabaret. He founded Cabinet of Curiosity Events so he could develop work combining ritual, experimentation and celebration. Throughout his career, Maugeri has been an inventor and designer of events, spaces, and objects; choreographer of people and mechanisms; and ritual and community maker. His creations are highly visual, design-driven, movement-inspired, and object-centered. His interactive theatrical works range from intimate miniature-scale productions to mammoth public spectacles. Maugeri is also a committed teacher, mentor and convener of Chicago’s artistic community, insistent on the importance of bringing creators, designers, performers and audiences together in conversation.
