Dryer check up, your dryer may not be broke but is it really living up to is fullest potential?

Symptoms:
Multiple cycles to dry.
A lot of lint build up in your laundry room.
Clothes are not as soft coming out.

Most likely cause(s):
The dryer exhaust leading out of the house is blocked preventing air flow and needs a good sweeping.
The dryer itself has lint built up inside (potential fire hazard) and is restricting intake, this usually starts with the above cause first.

What can Myers Repair do for this? We open up the dryer, clean every nook and cranny, once that is complete, sweep the exhaust to get it good as new. Clothes will be softer, dry faster, and you won't have a ton of micro fibers floating around the laundry room every time you start your dryer.

Recommend performing a cleanout of the dryer every 1.5 to 2 years and the exhaust should be once a year or at the earliest signs of restricted air flow(not drying fully).

Cleaning Prices*
Dryer + Exhaust = $150
Dryer = $100
Exhaust = $75

*If on site and it's determined that a cleaning will not fix the issues the cleaning will still be performed while offering both the cleaning and repair services at a discount.

🌟 Make It Work Monday: Revive Your Dryer in One Go! 🌟

Is your dryer taking its sweet time, leaving clothes damp even after a full cycle? Before you consider wearing damp clothes as the new trend, let's talk about a common hero behind the scenes: your dryer vent!

🌀 Why it matters: A blocked or partially blocked dryer vent is often the culprit. It’s like your dryer is trying to breathe through a straw! Not only does this mean longer drying times, but it can also hike up your energy bills and pose a safety risk.

🐾 Especially for pet owners, those fluffy companions might be unknowingly contributing to the blockage.

🛠 DIY Checks & Fixes:

Hot Air Blast Test: Open your dryer mid-cycle. If it feels like a sauna blast, your vent might be saying "help!"
Outdoor Vent Check: Find your dryer’s outdoor vent. The air flow should remind you of a hair dryer set on medium – strong and steady. If it's more of a weak sigh, we need to talk.
But, worry not! Cleaning your dryer vent might sound like a quest, but with the right tools (think: a special brush and a bit of DIY spirit), it can be straightforward.

📹 To show you just how satisfying this can be, check out our short video below of a dryer vent cleanout. Watch the dust and debris make their grand exit! It's not just satisfying; it's a breath of fresh air for your appliance.

💡 And because we love to see you winning, commenting and sharing this post will snag you a 20% discount off your next service charge with us! (T&C: Offer valid for 5 days post-creation, redeemable within 6 months)

Remember, a well-ventilated dryer isn't just about dry clothes; it's about safety, efficiency, and a happy home. If DIY isn’t your style or you want to ensure it’s done right, our team can swoop in, clean out that vent in 30-45 minutes, and leave your dryer feeling like new.

Let’s not let damp clothes dampen our spirits. Your dryer deserves to breathe freely, and you deserve dry clothes. Ready to tackle that vent, or need our expert touch? Drop us a comment or send a message!

Feature Friday: Microwave Magic - To Repair or Replace? 🌟🍽️

Happy Feature Friday, everyone! Today, let's demystify the microwave oven - a kitchen staple that zaps our meals to perfection but can sometimes leave us cold... literally. 🤔

Repair vs. Replace: The Microwave Edition
While microwaves are marvels of modern convenience, they're not immune to wear and tear. But before you decide to part ways with your trusty mealtime companion, consider the cost-effectiveness of a repair. Yes, certain components like the magnetron, high voltage transformer, capacitor, or control card signal a curtain call due to safety and cost concerns. Yet, many issues can be resolved with a simple fix, far outweighing the cost of a brand-new purchase.

Symptom Check:

Cold Food Post-Cooking: Might point to a faulty magnetron or HV capacitor.
Burnt Smells & Loud Humming: These are your cues for a possible HV transformer issue, accompanied by arcing or lackluster cooking performances.
Sustainability Tip: Got an old microwave collecting dust? Don't let it clutter your space or waste away in a landfill. Myers Repair welcomes your old units, ensuring every salvageable part finds new life.

Safety First!
A crucial reminder - microwaves house potentially deadly voltage levels. This isn't a DIY call to action; safety and expertise come first. Always seek professional help for repairs, ensuring your kitchen's safety and functionality.

"Think Twice Thursday: The Coin Trap Check – Your DIY Guide to a Happier Washing Machine 🛠️✨"

"Did you know your front load washing machine harbors a secret that could save you from a costly repair? Yes, we're talking about the coin trap! A hero in disguise, it's designed to catch all those pesky items that escape our pockets but can become a villain if neglected. Today, on Think Twice Thursday, we're guiding you through the easy steps of checking and cleaning your washer's coin trap – a simple yet crucial task for any homeowner. 🏠💡

🧰Tools/Items Needed:

A shallow container
Towel for cleanup

🥽Step-by-Step Guide:

1️⃣ Safety First: Ensure your washing machine is off or unplugged.
2️⃣ Access the Hero: Open the small access door located on the bottom right/left of the machine's front.
3️⃣ Water Out: Find the small hose with a plug. Gently pull it out, remove the plug, and let any trapped water drain into your container.
4️⃣ Unveil the Trap: Unscrew the cap next to the hose. Expect a bit of water; mop up with your towel. You'll find the coin trap attached to this cap.
5️⃣ Clean Sweep: Clear the coin trap of debris, lint, and, of course, coins.
6️⃣ Seal the Deal: Reattach the cap, ensuring the arrows align, and place everything back securely.
7️⃣ Power Up: Close the access door and plug in your washing machine.

🤷Why Bother?
Neglecting your coin trap isn't just about losing spare change; it's a matter of maintaining your machine's health. A clogged trap can prevent your machine from draining, putting undue stress on the pump and potentially leading to a burned-out pump motor – a preventable yet expensive fix.

? While this task is perfectly suited for a quick DIY, remember, some repairs require a professional touch. If you're ever in doubt or encounter a problem beyond a simple clean-out, Myers Repair is here to help, ensuring your appliances run smoothly without breaking the bank.
