It's finally time for the big reveal! The surveys are in, so I can now share with you the fabrics and results from all the hard working testers. For the details, there were four questions that I gave a numerical value to. Color depth, opacity, feel, and overall quality. I added all those up to create an overall rating, which was used for the final ranking....

Four short weeks ago I had no idea how much work this project would be. In that time fabric arrived, testers were chosen, fabric cut, cut again, sorted into piles, each piece individually labeled, piles were sorted and packets sent. From just over 50 volunteers I was able to take 28, and they are all now receiving their hand crafted packets....

First off, this was a really bad idea. Yes it works. You can absolutely bind an entire quilt with 1” strips using the binder. It will also be fast. But it won’t be pretty. There are other uses for the binder, and the flower is a great one with instructions below- but if you want to bind quilt edges with it, buckle up and prepare for a bumpy ride....

Tuxedo shirts, women’s summer blouses, and children’s Sunday dresses. I’ve been trying to think of things really defined by pintucks, but retro formal wear is really all I can think of. Sure, they are a beautiful detail, but definitely not commonly used; even for avid tailors. So I invite you all to tell me what you associate with pintucks, because for Singer to have made a foot just for this they had to be far more ubiquitous than I know....

I love this foot. Aside from aesthetically being a beautiful little machine, it works really well. It’s amazingly easy to use, despite the complex appearance - and fun! The ruffler is practically perfect. The Ruffler With that, let’s understand the bits and bobs on it. The ruffler attaches with the fork (B) over the needle clamp. This can be quite fiddly to get on, but it helps to have the needle bar as high as possible. [ 265 more words ]

Last week we covered two feet, but this week we are going to slow it down and split the block into two parts, starting with the adjustable hem foot. This is another foot that takes some time to get used to. The trick to it is teaching yourself how to feed the fabric in continuously without losing the roll on the edge. [ 324 more words ]
