Many were surprised by the sudden shutdown of startup, Zirtual. This has brought about a lot of questions and hesitations about hiring a virtual assistant or outsourcing to an online professional.

In this article, Alfredo Atanacio (co-founder of Uassist.ME), shares why he feels that the Zirtual business model failed. He cited that one of the possible disadvantages to the Zirtual business model is that they had a dispersed workforce. He raises a valid point with this.

Working with a dispersed workforce does have its disadvantages, but we, at VA International, have learned through these challenges. And we're still here. Since we started operations in 2008, we have been working with highly-skilled professionals based in their home offices in the Philippines. So, we are a testimony that a dispersed workforce system can be effective - if managed properly.
