OSWAMP-Oberlin Stormwater Management Project

OSWAMP-Oberlin Stormwater Management Project Sustainable Storm Water Management
Storm water runoff that is not managed properly carries pollutants into streams.

Currently in Oberlin pesticides and herbicides used by the college and agriculturalists in the area are running into Plum Creek. These pollutants can be reduced by a better storm water management system. Storm water can cause flooding, erosion, destruction of habitat and contribute to combined sewage overflows. Alternative storm water management systems such as bioswales, rain gardens, and rain ba

rrels can reduce the effects of urbanization on streams. These systems that integrate natural means of filtration and reduction of water run-off are optimal.
