RULES
— PLEASE READ AND COMMENT “AGREE” BEFORE POSTING OR BIDDING!!!!!!
Thank you everybody for joining the Ocala Florida buy/sell Auction!!
Here are rules for this page. Please read them and then follow them. These are guidelines for a successful auction site. They are meant to keep the site orderly and people sane.
You must be 18 years or older to post on this site.
There are a list of banned items in the rules.
1. When posting auctions please use the
“Write Post” or “Write Something” feature and attach ONE photo.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SELL ITEM FEATURE. This sell item feature does not work properly with the auction site. If you post using the Sell Item feature your auction will be removed without warning and you will need to relist.
2. All auctions will be open for bidding for 24 hours and 59 seconds. When you post, your item will have a time stamp on it; the auction ends 24 hours from that time stamp. You do, however, need to state the time and the date that your auction is ending in your original post, use AM and PM. Do Not Use Military Time!! Once your auction is posted, you are committed to allowing it to run for the full 24 hours and to sell it to the highest bidder in accordance to the rules of this page. If your post does not sell you are welcome to relist. To do this please delete the original auction then repost the auction info and picture. Please be sure to change the end time and date to reflect the new timestamp.
3. Please make your post as detailed as possible.
Always disclose the condition of the item you’re selling (make sure to mention any flaws or problems).
Include if it is from pet-free and smoke-free home!
List any expiration dates on items if they have them.
Be sure to mention if you’re only available for certain times and days. And if the item needs to be picked up in a certain amount of time, like within 24 hours of winning.
Your post must include if you are wanting the item picked up from you or a meeting place in Ocala and state where the location of pick up would be.
Do Not list your specific home address on your posts, only the area of town or the store where you will meet.
If the item is to be picked up from your home only, you must state that in your auction. Message the auction winner your address.
If you state in your auction that pickup is “TBD,” it means you are willing to be very flexible when arranging the pickup with the winner.
4. Sellers are allowed to specify whatever pickup time they wish. HOWEVER, as the general rule of thumb gives buyers up to 24 hours to respond after winning, any auction that has a pickup time less than 24 hours from the auction end time should have a disclaimer clearly stating that this is an auction that has to be picked up less than 24 hours from the time the auction ends.
For example, if my auction ends at 11:03 AM Monday morning and needs to be picked up at 5 p.m. Monday at Target, my post might look like this:
'Waffle maker new in package.
Auction ends at 11:03 AM on Monday, January 11th.
Pickup is Monday afternoon at 5 p.m. in the Target parking lot.
PLEASE NOTE: This pickup time is less than 6 hours after auction end time!'
5. You must include a picture when you post your auction! No stock photos allowed. You have to use pictures of the actual item! Do not post fuzzy pictures. The pictures need to be clear so people can see what the item looks like.
Post a picture of the item available to purchase.
Do not post pictures of accessories or other items that are not available with the item.
Only one picture is allowed per auction.
If you would like to include more photos, you may do so in the comments of your auction. If more than one photo is posted in your auction, the auction will be removed without warning; and you will need to repost the item.
6. No cross-posting items. If it is posted here, do not post it on another page.
7. You are allowed to have as many auctions as you would like at any given time, and you are expected to keep track of and follow the rules concerning all auctions you have posted.
8. Items banned to sell on the page are as follows and may change at any time:
formula, fi****ms, ammunition, alcohol, anything living that you have to feed, coupons or samples, po*******hy, and expired car seats.
9. Every item starts at 1 dollar. Please do not post an item for auction if you are not willing to let it go for 1 dollar.
10. You are only allowed to bump** your auction every 6 hours.
If someone comments or bumps your item, you are not allowed to bump it until at least 6 hours after the last comment/bid/bump.
The ONE exception to this rule is that you are allowed ONE additional bump toward the end of your auction so you can notify your bidders (and/or potential bidders) that it is ending.
11. Please read over the auction description carefully before you bid. If the time the seller has posted for pu*** does not work for you as a bidder, please pm**** the seller and ask them if another time would work for them. DO NOT BID until you have an answer from the seller.
12. The opening bid only counts if it is $1.00 or more. Bidding proceeds in whole dollar increments only (e.g., you can increase the bid by $1, $5, $7, etc….but not by $.25, $3.50, or any other amount that is not a whole dollar amount).
To place a bid you need to comment on the photo of the auction.
Do not reply to other bids to place your bid. These bids are invalid and will not be honored as seller and other bidders do not receive notification of bid.
IF YOU BID ON AN ITEM, YOU ARE COMMITTED TO BUYING THAT ITEM IF YOU HAVE THE WINNING BID.
13. You are not allowed to edit or delete your bid, change your mind, or “pass.” All edited bids are invalid. Anyone caught deleting bids will be removed from the page.
14. IF IT IS SUSPECTED THAT YOU HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY BIDDING UP YOUR ITEMS, YOU WILL ALL BE REMOVED.
15. The last person to bid with the highest bid at an auction’s end time wins.
(Example: If my auction ends at 6:45, the last bid at 6:45 gets it. Even if it is 6:45 and 29 seconds, if it is not 6:46 yet, the bid counts.)
The auction owner determines who wins the bid if there are duplicate bids at the auction end. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE END TIME OF AN AUCTION IS ALWAYS DETERMINED BY THE FACEBOOK TIME STAMP. Your phone, computer, etc., may or may not show the same time as Facebook's official time, so please be aware of this when bidding. The mins/hours ago listed are not accurate and are not a valid way to verify an auction winner.
16. If you are not happy with the price that your auction has sold for, that is too bad; you must sell it for the winning bid price.
17. Pm**** your winner AND tag* them at the end of the auction. When tagging your winner please make sure to add a separate comment tagging them instead of commenting under the winning bid so all bidders and the winner will receive a notification!
When PM'ing your winner, please be detailed about what item was won, the price and pickup time and place as stated in the auction. If the name does not become highlighted when typing add @ before typing their name and it should show up blue to tag them.
Note sellers should regularly check their message request folder to see if anyone is inquiring more details of an auction. Especially if potential bidders cannot make a set pickup time.
Only the seller of any particular auction are allowed to call the winners of auctions.
Please leave your auction up for at least 1 hour after tagging winner so all bidders are notified.
Screenshots are helpful keeping track of auctions and winners.
18. Delete your auction within 12 hours of its ending. Screen shot it &/or write it down and send the details to your winner.
You may be banned for non-removal of old posts.
All auctions without bids need to be removed promptly after auctions end.
You may repost but be sure to change auction info of time/dates of pickup.
19. When meeting for auctions, please be sure to be on time or early, park far away from business entrances (unless pickup is actually inside -- in which case it is assumed that the seller is the owner or has cleared this with the owner), and to inspect the item(s) purchased either at pickup or as soon as reasonably possible after pickup. Public places near surveillance cameras during the daytime is recommended.
20. TAG YOUR WINNERS IN A SEPARATE POST IF YOU HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM BY THE TIME YOU ARE DELETING YOUR AUCTION. A separate post is a post that you write on the page that is completely separate from your auction. This is an extremely important step because all winners have up to 24 hours to respond. (That 24 hours starts when they are first tagged in an auction and only ends when they have been tagged somewhere on the page [including the auction] for 24 continuous hours.) If they have not responded by the time you're deleting the auction and you don't tag them in a separate post, they may have no way of knowing they won.
21. No shows will be deleted. Zero tolerance for no shows. If someone is a no show for you, please let admin know. A NO SHOW IS ANYONE WHO DOES NOT MEET AT THE TIME & PLACE STATED IN THE AUCTION (unless agreed upon otherwise in advance of bidding) OR, IN THE CASE OF “TBD” AUCTIONS, WHO DOES NOT MEET AT THE TIME AND PLACE ARRANGED BETWEEN THE BUYER AND SELLER AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. If the buyer does not make contact with the seller within 24 hours of auction ending, the buyer will be counted as a no show and banned. The same rule applies to any seller who does not make contact with the buyer within 24 hours of the auction ending. If you are unable for any reason to meet at the agreed-upon time & place, please message the other person as soon as you can to try to make other arrangements.
22. Absolutely no ISO or advertising posts allowed.
23. No "following" auctions.
FOLLOW THE RULES, OR YOU WILL BE BANNED!
Thank you, and happy buying/selling!
*tag/tagging = When you tag someone, begin by typing their name until Facebook gives you the option of clicking on their name in a small pop-up window. (Once you have successfully tagged a person, their name will appear as a blue link in your comment.) Tagging a person creates a link to the person’s profile and sends them a notification.
**bump = comment on an item simply to move it to the top of the page
***PU = pick up
****PM = private message possible.
Note sellers should regularly check their message request folder to see if anyone is inquiring more details of an auction. Especially if potential bidders cannot make a set pickup time.
