Like minded folks finding each other is a truism reaffirmed by your delightful support of our new release. We are blessed! If you haven’t yet joined our transparency in winemaking effort, the time is now.

Organics are important, but that is merely the first step in good, holistic farming. What occurs once the grapes enter the cellar is equally important but often overlooked. It is hard to describe the taste differences between our organic wines made with little to no cellar additions and one made “sustainably” with commercially farmed grapes. Both can taste “good” but comparing them is like comparing a garden-fresh tomato to Doritos. There is a purity of flavor and certain “aliveness” offered by our wines that the added chemicals in commercially made wines cannot replicate.

Pour any of our wines at home and you will taste the difference. We promise!

Transparency is our bedrock.

Since the beginning of Alma Fria, we’ve taken a deliberately low-intervention approach to winemaking. Organically grown grapes. Indigenous yeasts. Naturally occurring malolactic bacteria. The minimum effective SO₂—and nothing else. No shortcuts, no additives, no sleight of hand.

These choices easily meet (and often exceed) organic, biodynamic, natural, and even vegan winemaking standards—but we don’t do it for labels or certifications. We do it because it aligns with our values, and because it makes better wine. You’ve heard this story before, and it’s one we’re proud to keep telling.

What’s new is how we’re sharing it.

In 2023, the European Union took a long-overdue step toward transparency, requiring wine producers to disclose full ingredient lists and nutritional information—either directly on the label or via QR code. Wine has lived without this standard for far too long, and we’re thrilled to see that change.

Transparency—in winemaking and in life—is foundational for us. So beginning with the 2024 vintage, we are voluntarily adopting the EU’s labeling guidelines. Each bottle now includes a QR code linking to a detailed page outlining the wine’s complete ingredient list, every action taken in the cellar, and the farming practices of the vineyard from which it came.

Why voluntarily embrace more regulation? Because we respect our customers, our planet, and ourselves—and because earning trust through transparency is central to who we are. The TTB currently permits more than 70 additives and processing aids in winemaking. Wines that rely on them are the vinous equivalent of highly processed food. Wines that don’t—like ours—are more akin to vegetables grown in your garden, nourished by sunlight, soil, and water alone.

Alongside the 2024 Richardson Ranch Pinot Noir, this spring release also includes the 2024 Joyce Vineyard Chardonnay and 2024 Stolo Vineyard Syrah. Production is very limited—approximately 30-70 cases each of the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay—and they will sell out quickly.

Thank you for supporting us as we continue to do the right thing.

Our Fall 2025 Release closes tomorrow, September 30th at midnight. Aria, our youngest, has been hard at work labelling for you! Don't miss the opportunity to secure these special wines before the release comes to a close.

Organic, natural winemaking has been our mantra from the beginning. It has been over a decade since we adopted a completely non-interventionist approach in the cellar. This means we only use products created by nature in our wines. No lab grown yeasts, synthetic nutrients or any other additions. Our still wines only contain grapes and a tiny bit of organic sulphur. The result is a certain “aliveness”, as well as a noticeable purity of aroma and flavor.

Our goal is to make timeless wines with a purity of purpose and simplicity of process. As Antoine de Saint-Exupery so aptly observed, “Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.” Our aim was true when making these beautiful wines. We hope you agree.

FALL 2025 RELEASE REMINDER

The day a wine is released brings with it a bit of melancholy, soon followed by a slow swelling of the heart. After spending an intense period creating it, a winemaker must now relinquish control and let the bottling stand on its own. It is no longer his. It has been gifted to the world, meant to be interpreted and experienced by all.

We have reached that time for the three organic, naturally made wines we are releasing this fall. Our 2023 Holtermann Vineyard Pinot Noir is a refined and old-world presentation of the West Sonoma Coast. The NV/21 Sparkling Chardonnay is a taunt and saline inspiration, like the cold Pacific waters it adjoins. And the third wine, the 2024 Plural Pinot Noir is a wild and savory version of West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, an exemplary representative of its vintage and its homeland.

Our Fall 2025 release remains open until September 30th or sold out. They will ship around the second week of October, weather permitting.

Enjoy their beauty and grab a few bottles for yourself via the LINK IN OUR BIO.

OUR FALL 2025 OFFERING IS NOW LIVE!

Organic, natural winemaking has been Alma Fria’s mantra from the beginning.

We started making these wines over twenty-five years ago. They have been built vintage-by-vintage and vineyard-by-vineyard through trials, tribulations and triumph. Every facet of our lives has influenced them, and their evolution continues with each new experience. We hope you agree!

This fall we are releasing our last wines from the exceptional 2023 vintage. Our 2023 HOLTERMANN VINEYEARD PONOT NOIR is a refined and old-world presentation of the West Sonoma Coast.

Release is open until September 30th or sold out. Estimated ship date is October 6th.
