We focus on Sonoma's cool climate sites, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Cobb Wines is the family project he began with his parents in 2001.

Ross Cobb's journey into winemaking began quickly after graduating from the University of Santa Cruz when he established a soil science lab at Ferrari Carrano. Shortly thereafter he went on to become the enologist and viticulturist at Williams Selyem before migrating to Flowers Winery where he would eventually take over as head winemaker for nine vintages. Capping his tour of the Sonoma Coast, Ross took the reins as head winemaker for Hirsch Vineyards for six years. Throughout his time spent working with some of the most heralded Sonoma Coast vineyards, Ross traveled to Burgundy over 15 times to continue the growth of his craft from the origins of Pinot Noir. The estate vineyard Coastlands had its original blocks planted in 1989 by his mother Diane. This is one of the most westerly vineyards in Sonoma County sitting just 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean at 1150 ft above sea level. Ross is known for championing a complex, cool-climate style of Pinot Noir that captures the sense of place from which the varietal was grown. Ross makes Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, along with a bit of Riesling and Chardonnay. Today, Ross not only farms the estate himself but also lives on the property with his wife and daughter.

Same vineyard, different years, entirely different stories.

Introducing "Deep Cuts", a new monthly tasting experience at Cobb W**es.

Each month, we'll pull a few special vintages from the cellar and explore how a single vineyard evolves from year to year. It's a chance to revisit old favorites, discover something new, and experience the beauty of vintage variation.

The best part? Deep Cuts is complimentary for Cobb W**e Club members and up to three guests.

Join us as we dig a little deeper into the vineyards and vintages that make each w**e unique.

From Pinot Noir to Riesling, our w**es are shaped by cool coastal conditions, distinctive vineyard sites, and a commitment to letting each place speak for itself.

One of our favorite views at Coastlands. The Big Rock sits among the vines as a natural landmark of the vineyard and a reminder of the rugged landscape that surrounds us.

Just miles from the Pacific, Coastlands is shaped by cool coastal air, elevation, and challenging terrain, all of which influence the character of the Pinot Noir grown here.

A view that feels distinctly Coastlands.

Riesling has long been an important part of what we do at Cobb. Bright, expressive and unmistakably Sonoma Coast.

Doc’s Ranch Pinot Noir, a true expression of the Sonoma Coast. A bottle shaped by its vineyard, its vintage and the cool coastal conditions we return to year after year.

There’s something special about this view. Where forest meets vineyard, and every vintage begins with the land.

At Cobb, we believe great w**e starts long before the cellar. It starts here, on the Sonoma Coast, shaped by the landscape, the climate, and the place we’re lucky enough to call home.

In the vineyard, tasting through what we’ve been working on and looking ahead to what’s next.

From one vineyard, two distinct expressions. Abigail’s Vineyard Pinot Noir and Riesling are grown in the cool hills northwest of Sebastopol, where the Sonoma Coast climate shapes each vintage. Two varietals with their own character, both rooted in the same remarkable site.
