Cobb Wines

Cobb Wines We focus on Sonoma's cool climate sites, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling. Cobb Wines is the family project he began with his parents in 2001.

Ross Cobb's journey into winemaking began quickly after graduating from the University of Santa Cruz when he established a soil science lab at Ferrari Carrano. Shortly thereafter he went on to become the enologist and viticulturist at Williams Selyem before migrating to Flowers Winery where he would eventually take over as head winemaker for nine vintages. Capping his tour of the Sonoma Coast, Ros

s took the reins as head winemaker for Hirsch Vineyards for six years. Throughout his time spent working with some of the most heralded Sonoma Coast vineyards, Ross traveled to Burgundy over 15 times to continue the growth of his craft from the origins of Pinot Noir. The estate vineyard Coastlands had its original blocks planted in 1989 by his mother Diane. This is one of the most westerly vineyards in Sonoma County sitting just 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean at 1150 ft above sea level. Ross is known for championing a complex, cool-climate style of Pinot Noir that captures the sense of place from which the varietal was grown. Ross makes Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast and Anderson Valley, along with a bit of Riesling and Chardonnay. Today, Ross not only farms the estate himself but also lives on the property with his wife and daughter.

Our Fall Release is now live.

We’re thrilled to share our newest wines from the remarkable 2024 and 2025 vintages. From the Sonoma Coast to Anderson Valley and Cole Ranch, this release reflects the vineyards, growers, and places that continue to inspire us.

The 2024 vintage gave us wines that feel distinctly Cobb: aromatically intense, elegantly structured, and carried by bright, vibrant acidity.
We’re incredibly proud to share these wines with you and hope they find a place at your table this fall.

We had the best time welcoming this year's Farm Camp participants to Cobb.

It was a privilege to share our vineyards, our wines, and the farming philosophy that guides everything we do with an incredible group of sommeliers from across the country. From thoughtful conversations in the vineyard to tastings around the table, we're grateful to have been part of an experience that celebrates the people, place, and passion behind the West Sonoma Coast.

Thank you to West Sonoma Coast Vintners for bringing this community together. Until next year.

Tucked between the mountains of Mendocino County, Cole Ranch is unlike anywhere else. At just one-quarter square mile, it is the smallest appellation in the United States, yet its cool climate and distinctive terroir produce Riesling with remarkable freshness, precision, and character.
