Planning your holiday marketing? Here are 10 tasks to tackle, in the order they actually need to happen:

- Finalize your marketing plan
- Update your mailing lists
- Approve your artwork
- Order holiday cards
- Schedule direct mail
- Order promotional products
- Refresh storefront signage
- Print event materials
- Confirm shipping deadlines
- Schedule installations

The first three are worth a little attention this month. Your plan, mailing lists and artwork shape everything that follows, so getting them moving now can make the next seven much easier.

We bring design, print, signage, direct mail and promotional products together through one local team. Fewer vendors, fewer timelines and fewer details to chase.

December should be spent serving customers — not chasing proofs and tracking shipments.

The businesses that stay out of the holiday rush are the ones planning it right now.

Every holiday print project moves through the same steps: design, proofing, production, finishing, shipping and sometimes installation. Start early and every one of those stages has room to breathe — more stock and finish options, time to sit with a proof before approving it, and no decisions made in a hurry.

A comfortable timeline looks like this:

August–September: Make the plan
September–October: Place major orders
October–November: Finish production
December: Bring it all to life

Already past that point? Come talk to us anyway. There's almost always a way to make it work.

EDDM or a targeted mailing list: Which one is right for your next campaign?

Here’s the simple test: If you know where your customers live, EDDM® offers whole-neighborhood coverage with no mailing list required. If you know who you want to reach, such as specific demographics or business types, a targeted list lets you tailor your message and offer to that audience.

Many businesses use both.

EDDM also has specific size and preparation requirements, so your mail item must meet USPS flat-size specifications to qualify.

We break down the specs, the tradeoffs, and how to pick between them on the blog: https://www.alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/08/beginners-guide-to-eddm

Want to reach every home in a neighborhood without buying a mailing list?

That's exactly what EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail) does. You choose the USPS carrier routes you want, print your piece to postal specs, and the post office delivers to every address on those routes. No names, no database, just full coverage of the area you care about.

It's a favorite for restaurants, home services, real estate, and grand openings — anyone whose customers are defined by where they live.

Thinking about a neighborhood campaign? We'll help you print the materials and pick the routes.

Quick booth test: can people read your headline from across the aisle?

If not, your graphics are built for visitors already looking for you, not the potential new customers walking by.

A few fixes make all the difference:

• Add height — banners, backdrops, and feather flags get you seen
• Make your most important message the biggest element
• Keep it clean, bold, and on-brand
• Put your team out front, not behind a table

Back-to-school shopping season is here — is your storefront ready?

A few pieces help local shops stand out during the rush: window graphics with your back-to-school offer, A-frames on the sidewalk, entrance banners, and branded bags that turn every customer into a walking billboard.

It's not about outspending the shop next door. It's about looking ready when the traffic shows up.

Ever picked up a business card or brochure that just felt expensive? That’s the finish doing its job.

A few that elevate any piece:
• Soft-touch lamination — smooth, matte, premium
• Spot UV — glossy shine on logos and headlines
• Embossing — texture you can feel
• Metallic foil — eye-catching, upscale highlights

The trick is using them with restraint. One well-placed effect makes more of an impression than a page full of them.

At an event, your brand has just seconds to make an impression. A cohesive setup makes those seconds count.

It’s more than a banner. It’s the backdrop people see across the hall, the retractable banners and table displays up close, the branded apparel on your team, and the folder or mailer they take home — all sharing the same look and message.

When every piece matches, your space feels polished and intentional. That’s what attendees remember.

Knowing which pieces to prioritize, and where to start, is the harder part. We laid it out on the blog. https://www.alphagraphics.com/blog/blog/2026/08/the-brand-experience-playbook

Back-to-school season means new faces everywhere — students, parents, and staff walking into your building for the first time.

Clear wayfinding helps them find their way on day one: consistent room names, directional signs that don’t quit halfway down the hall, updated directories, and accessible ADA routes.

The result? Fewer lost visitors and a front office that isn’t giving directions all day.

If you manage a school or campus, it’s time to get signage ready.

Ever been lost in a hospital, office park, or campus? That’s a wayfinding problem — not a “you” problem.

Good wayfinding answers three questions the moment someone walks in: Where am I? Where do I need to go? How do I get there?

It’s built from four kinds of signs working together — identification, directional, informational, and regulatory (including ADA) — all using the same style, colors, and symbols so people can move with confidence.

When it’s done well, visitors arrive on time and your front desk team stops being the directory.
