Yoga with Dima

Yoga with Dima Dmytro (Dima) Lissovskiy is a CYT-500 with a whole
lot of love for what he does. After homework practice is done, it's flowing jazz time in class.

This is a loving and professional service to the community, as well as a means of honest livelihood via the sharing of the art and science of Hatha Yoga by Dima Lissovskiy. As a Ukrainian immigrant coming to the US,
Dima enjoyed ample opportunity to continue martial arts training in America
with world-class masters while going to school and creating a new life. Being a lifelong martial artist wh

o gradually became a dedicated Yoga appreciator he realized his
Yoga practice was going on all along. Formerly
a teacher of Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Dima at the same time grew up with
a personal appreciation of meditation practice taking from many traditions,
though largely influenced by sources from Zen and
Indian Source Buddhism. These days you may find him practicing with various sanghas in Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village tradition. Completing his Yoga teacher training at Miracosta Collage with Stacy McCarthy, Dima is most eager to share his love of functional psychology
and biology in his classes while teaching safe and effective Vinyasa Flow. Influenced by Ashtanga Vinyasa, Iyengar and a bit of Kundalini Yoga, there is a focus on safe alignment and breath-to-movement
connection in his classes. More than anything Yoga is shared appropriately with those that come to class on that particular occasion with no single class being the same.

Tirumalai Krishnamacharya's example is continually precious for me. He helped many people with Yoga, more so then many of them may even be aware of. This yogi's practice was a powerfully positive ripple in modern society through the great teachers that he shared with the world after they matured properly as dedicated students.

There are very few videos of my teacher, the great yogi Sri Krishnamacharya. The only video we have of him demonstrating physical yoga practices is from 1938. It is a black and white film that many of you may have seen on YouTube.

"Nowadays, the practice of yoga stops with just asanas. Very few even attempt dharana and dhyana (deeper meditation) with seriousness. There is a need to search once more and reestablish the practice and value of yoga in modern times."
Tirumalai Krishnamacharya

Greatly enjoyed teaching today's couple of classes, at the beach and at the 10th Planet studio. I get to enjoy a great process of living out the American dream so to speak and hone my skills some more at the same time.
