General PSA Front Load Washer Users!

How many realize that front load washers the boot gaskets have little drain ports at the bottom to release the water back from the gasket to the inner and outer tub to be drained?

If you do not maintain the gasket where the drain ports are you will clog them up and it will cause leaks at the door where the least resistance is.

Follow-up by maintaining the drain filter as well on most models can be found at the front left of the washer or models like GE or Whirlpool will be front right of the washer door.

These two helpful hints will help prolong the washers lifetime so you aren’t through the pocketbook/wallet/checkbook/credit card/college tuition at the appliance when it just needs to be simply maintained.

Generalized PSA:

Do not use aftermarket non-OEM filters for your refrigerator.

See this way too many times aftermarket filters will gum up and ruin the filter head or filter housing depending on style of refrigerator.

If you want to save a few extra dollars there is two extra steps you can proceed with that will be just as effective.

You can research your model number and find a filter bypass plug and add a 5 year external filter for far cheaper than what two filters a year will cost you.

Some dryers have sensors that will get gunked up with oils from the dryer sheets that people insist help but actually do damage. They can also restrict the airflow and cause dryer fires.
